Differences between simming and RW

Recommended Posts

Tongue in cheek...

  • A sim crash is annoying...a RW crash is somewhat worse.
  • If your GNS crashes in the sim, EVERYTHING crashes.  In the RW you fly old-school.
  • Flying into a storm in FSX is fun.  RW it's not.
  • Your right foot is way tired-er in the RW...small planes...p-factor.
  • RW, your dog doesn't need to go out, your kids don't want to show you their latest magic trick, your wife doesn't ask you to go to the grocery store but EVERYBODY has to go pee at different times.
  • Gas prices...and in the sim, you don't have to wait as long for a fuel truck.
  • Sim=less drafty (I hope).
  • RW=less alcohol (I hope).
  • RW=no config file, better frames, explainable blurries.
  • RW, Pause doesn't work as well.
  • fuses and pressurization.
  • NOTAMs
  • In the sim wake turbulence is worse...RW it matters more.
  • RW: "What was that?" is scary and a reboot, generally, won't fix it.

In the RW, you also want to AVOID the boot that is on the Boss's right upward thrusting foot closing in on your buttocks and, near the front door....  Good to avoid.... :) Avoiding this...allows you to support your sim habit....

Good post, enjoyed your humor, Gregg!

That's when a RELIEF TUBE and an empty beer bottle helps!

I should say that the reason I was thinking about it was that, in fact, when I loaded a flightplan (while airborne) in a particular VLJ...I won't say which but it's name rhymes with Bessna Nustang...it crashed with a CTD.  I thought to myself what would happen if it was a real plane.  All the work you do to set something up and...poof...start over.  Sometimes I thank the stars that they don't simulate RW failures because the sim failures are big enough.
