Anyone using M.2 SSD for FS?

Upgrading to a Z97 Deluxe which has an M.2 slot.  Was considering giving the Samsung XP941 drive a try for FS...

Was wondering if anyone had tried M.2 for FS or just in general?

Not an M.2 Paul but I dropped an mSATA 512 Evo in my MSI G45 board with excellent results.

 

Whilst a little more expensive it also appeals to my sense of aesthetics.  <_<

So the reviews of the M.2 941 I am reading say in the real world it pretty much doubles the 940 ProSSD's in terms of real world performance.    To quote

With that being said the SM951 which is supposedly 30% faster and PCIe 3.0 is a few weeks away from release...  So I am going to hold off and then try to get a 951 (they will rpobably be OEM only at first) ASAP.  Also need to check if my mobo supports M.2 as a boot drive.

I have recently installed a  Crucial M500 480Gb M.2 SATA SSD which is used as  the boot drive for  W7 OS, some FSX scenery and most other software. I have a separate SSD for most FSX software.

The SATA M.2s are considerably cheaper than the  PCIe variants and plenty fast enough for my needs. The only disadvantage is that on my MB (MSI X99S SLI Plus) they make two SATA ports inoperable.

On the plus side they don't need to be connected to a SATA port or power socket. As regards performance, the M.2 seems to be the same as a standard SSD
