It's slightly overkill, you don't really need that much for P3D, or any sim really, but it's good for the use and you'll be able to run all games on good settings. You most likely will have to overclock the i7 to get the best performance though, but you've got good cooling so it will be fine. Make sure the case is good for airflow and get some good fans so your hardware doesn't get too hot.

Looks good but I'd get the i7-4790K instead its faster out of the box and overclocks better. As for the above post you system isn't over kill with add-ons I still only get 20 FPS in certain places.

The most important thing has been overlooked.   :angry:

 

Purchase (and use) an external USB HDD for backup and preferably with a third party supplied software such as Acronis, Casper, O&O or Paragon.  Lots of freeware out there too.

 

I promise you won't regret it.

 

PS.  You could safely get by with a 750w power supply and save a few dollars.

-If you're only going to be working with FSX, 8 GB of RAM should be more than enough

-The GTX 980 is a great card, but FSX can do well with a 970.  Depends on what else you're doing with the computer, but could be a couple hundred bucks cheaper.

-That's a heck of an expensive case.  Look for one with good airflow, but with the right sale you can get one for $50-100 (I got a Thermaltake Chase A31 for $55 and it runs my 4790k at 50C under max load with a Noctua cooler)

-You'd probably be good with a 700-750W power supply.  I recommend getting a modular one though, as it makes cable management much easier.

You should be able to run fsx and P3D with that.

I agree with this.  The 900D is WAY overkill for your needs. That case is ENORMOUS! I use the 750D.  It's awesome. Looks great, lots of room and half the cost.

 

You can also get a WD Black drive for less.

Careful with the Evo SSD right now - there's a firmware issue where old data is read at agonizingly slow rates. Samsung has acknowledged and should fix in a week or so.

 

I'd get a gtx 970 and get a samsung 850/850 pro SSD instead.

I have 2 Evo ssd's... No issues. I've had them in raid and non-raid.

 

But the 850's are amazing.  If you can. Get them!
