October 6, 201411 yr So I upload the winds into my 777. It seems after I upload the winds, I get the same identical wind data for the entire route. For example, If the next fix's wind is 140 degrees at 55 knots, the entire route will be populated with this information. I think I liked the old way better where It would just use the PFPX and AS2012 to populated the winds in the FMS. Any ideas? Thanks!
October 6, 201411 yr Full names required in this forum, thanks. PFPX has never been used to populate the winds in the FMS, and instructions for using other than ASN for winds is included in the Introduction beginning on pg 0.00.162. I've been using ASN since SP testing began and have never had a problem with wind uploads; wind data varies for each segment as expected. Dan Downs KCRP
October 6, 201411 yr Currently en route KJFK-MMPR, descending, just asked for and got descent winds no problem from within the forecast page. So, works for me. Rick Almeida
October 6, 201411 yr You should observe if this is truly the case with each of your flights. If two waypoints are close to each other and you pass them at the same altitude, chances are that winds are similar or equal. Which weather engine are you using? If you use AS2012 in DWC mode, remember that it controls weather globally, so every station has the same weather conditions as your current location. I am not absolutely certain, but you might need to revert to another depiction mode. Other than that, I can only concur with the others. Using ASN with the T7 and the uplink works like a charm. October 7, 201411 yr PFPX has never been used to populate the winds in the FMS, Not true. You can use PFPX to generate a .wx file for use within the FMS. OP: That is not supposed to happen. Which program are you using to generate the .wx file? Matt L.
October 8, 201411 yr Author I use active sky 2012 to generate the winds and both my 777 and my pfpx use active sky 2012 for winds.
October 8, 201411 yr Commercial Member Why not take a look at the .wx file itself, check it's there? Should be in the ..Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\WX folder and be named from the Departure and Destination ICAOs e.g. ABCDWXYZ.wx. It is a simple text file can open in Notepad, there is a line of text for each waypoint contains the winds at each FL. Make sure you have Write and Modify permissions for the Users Group on the FSX folder before installing Planes and exporting plans and weather files. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
