777-300 Not showing when loaded

Recommended Posts

I had to unload the 777-200 and 777-300 as had to reinstall FSX. I follow correct procedure, de-registering via the FMC first then un-installing it etc.

I went to load back in, loaded the 200 first and put in my licence, ran FSX and then I loaded the 300, It will not show up in the operations centre or in FSX. I have loaded the 300 twice. Anyone know why? And how to fix this issue?

Also when I load up the 200 I get the following errors:

Failed to load texture:

$WINGLIGHT

$FLAPSTCLLIGHT

$CABINLIGHT

$MLGHB

Any ideas how to fix this also?

Full name required on posts in this forum, thanks.

You didn't have to de-register to uninstall and reinstall... I've done that more times than I can count during testing. Verify you have the current versions of both the -200 and -300.  SP1b applies to -200 and current version of -300 required a re-download of the installer from your on line eCommerce account.  Maybe but not sure this is problem.

I have not read about the texture load failure before, can't help much but just wondering when the error message appears: Is it when you select the aircraft in Free Flight before clicking Fly Now, or is it after Fly Now and the aircraft begins to appear on the runway??

Take a look in the FSX>SimObjects>airplanes folder and see if the -300ER has a folder.

I am thinking there is a write permissions issue -- Is FSX installed in a programs folder?  If it is and you just reinstalled it, now is a good time to uninstall and reinstall outside of a programs folder.  Also, try running the installation files as administrator.

As Dan said, PMDG forum rules require you need to sign your full name.

What Mike was alluding to, was the folder where your FSX was installed to.

It is generally recommended to not install the sim into the standard path of \Program Files (x86), as Windows 7 User Account Control feature can cause problems by denying full read/write access to the sim or installers that try to copy files into said folder.

If your install is still fresh and vanilla, you are best served with reinstalling it to an alternative folder like C:\FSX.

My FSX has always been at the default location but I do have UAC turned off; anyway, did you confirm you have current version -300? You can use the OC to check this, current version will be displayed when you select the 777 product and version from the menu list.

Hi, Ronan,

If the Operations Center isn't detecting the -300ER, open the aircraft.cfg file with notepad.  Don't edit it unless you really know what you're doing!   Close to the top it should say:

"Current with Build: 1.10.6036"

You did mean that the folder PMDG 777-300ER is in SimObjects/Airplanes, right?

HI Mike and Dan,

I have FSX on a separate SSD, It is not in default location (i.e. programes(86)/microsoft)

Yes I checked in the operations centre. I guess I will have to submit a ticket to PMDG, as have reinstalled the 300 twice now.

I will check the aircraft.cfg when I get home as in work at minute (obviously on lunch break!) yes I meant the 300er folder is in SimObjects/Airplanes. Should that line not be in the CFG file or it says something different, what would your advice be? Another install or edit the CFG?

Thanks guys.

Hi Mike, It doesn't say 'Current with Build: 1.10.6036' near the top of the cfg

Hi, Ronan,

What does it say?

Also, just noticed that in your original post you said "ran FSX and then I loaded the 300."  Was FSX running when you ran the -300ER installer?  It should not be.

Ronan, if you found a solution please post it here. If not, give this a try (I ran into this yesterday):  Uninstall 777-300ER keep the -200L/F and then confirm with FSX and OC that all is normal. Now install the -300ER using an installer that you have downloaded from PMDG since 1 Aug 14 and IMPORTANT be sure to select COMPLETE installation. I have not yet confirmed that selecting CUSTOM installation causes a problem but I am very suspicious of it.  The difference between complete and custom for the base model is you get an option not to install the navdata that comes with the installer because you have newer data.  In the expansion there is a screen to select complete or custom but not options screen because it uses the base model navdata. Give it a try and in any event let the forum know what the solution turns out to be. Thanks

O, got the 300ER showing now, I double checked I had the installer released after 8 August 14, I uninstaled ALL PMDG, I also manually deleded the folders from simobjects/airplanes, then Manually delete the PMDG 777-200LR, PMDG 777F, PMDG 777-300ER, and PMDG 777-GMC folders in C:\Users\(Your Windows Username)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SimObjects. Manually delete the PMDG_777X_3.ini file in the FSX/GAUGES folder.

then ran reg cleaner,

Then ran the 200 installer, inout licence, then the 300 and it shows and is working.

I however have still the issue of

Failed to load texture:

$WINGLIGHT

$FLAPSTCLLIGHT

$CABINLIGHT

$MLGHB

That's a new one for me, maybe others have seen it but I don't even understand when you get the error or who is generating the error message (FSX or PMDG).  It happens for all -200/-300/F variants? Time for a trouble ticket at support.precisionmanuals.com I think.

Right in his signature line, where it is supposed to be. "Dan Downs, Maj USAF (Ret)"

If you are accessing the forum with a mobile theme, you won't see the signature line.

YOUR signature, on the other hand, simply says "Mo". Is that a full name?

I personally don't care one way or the other, but if you are going to take someone else to task for not following a forum policy, it sort of damages your credibility if you are not following the policy yourself.
