Carenado PC12 Mindstar Integration in P3d

Recommended Posts

Mr. Canham,

I'm not here to be your personal punching bag, and I won't tolerate demeaning or insulting posts.

If you want help, you are going to have to provide information. As for Mr. Leaming... he is not Mindstar and does not work in this forum. I am, and I do.

OK - here is my default c172 MindStar panel.cfg as installed from the download but amended in red to contain a GNS 530/430 combination in the 2d and VC cockpits. This only for illustrative purposes to try and get the pop-ups working properly. As stated earlier in this thread the GNS screens can be clicked on (with the cursor changing to a hand and a tooltip appearing) but nothing happens. A pop-up GNS is obtained in the usual ways by pressing either shift+3, the SimIcon in the 2d panel or by selecting 'GNS panel' from the 'Views - Instrument Panel' dropdown menu. The pop-up panel is turned off by clicking on its screen. While the pop-up is active the GNS screens on the panels go off.

I'm requesting help to determine why clicking on a GNS screen does not activate the GNS pop-up as I thought it would.

I hope you can shed some light on this problem - thanks.

My experience with installing third party gauges in vc cockpits tells me that if the 3d model in the airplane is not set up for a click spot in that location, a popup click will not work.

You will not get a "hand" at all.

If you do get a hand, look at the tooltip to see what initiated it, it could be a conflicting click spot.

It might be a bit more productive to move this thread over to the Carenado PC12 forum where there are a lot of tweakers.  I don't know that anybody else is trying to integrate Mindstar but, at least they tweak and fix like mad men over there.

Ok... this is actually the Mindstar commercial support forum... so, please... let us do our support. LOL Bert's statement would be incorrect... please ignore it though he means well. Gregg's suggestion isn't going to solve your problem either... but he also means well. :)

Your panel.cfg has errors, errors that you created. You took a panel.cfg that we install and made modifications without understanding what you were doing. Simple as that.

Our installer placed this panel.cfg so that you could load a version of the default 172 with our GNS units. However, we didn't place the units on the main 2D panel as there is no GNS unit there on the default panel. There are also no GNS units in the default VC.

We actually have documentation on how to add these to a panel on our website and I strongly recommend that you read it and understand it before making any more panel modifications.

I am assuming this is for FSX... so, based on that.

In your [VCockpit01] section:

gauge19=MPI_GNS!GNS530, 0, 51, 258, 187, 1:1:-1

gauge20=MPI_GNS!GNS430, 0, 236, 258, 139, 2:1:-1

In your [Window02] section:

gauge00=MPI_GNS!GNS530, 0, 0, 456, 331, 1:3:225

gauge01=MPI_GNS!GNS430, 0, 331, 456, 189, 2:3:225

In your [Window00] section:

gauge48=MPI_GNS!GNS530, 519,201,120,87, 1:2:0

gauge49=MPI_GNS!GNS430, 519,289,120,49, 2:2:0

I don't think your modifications are a good idea and to be honest we've never ever tested such an odd setup... so, fair warning.

Hi,

@Ed - I think you are trying to be helpful but my level of frustration has just gone up another notch. The corrections you show do not make the pop-up work. But let's forget about the Cessna which merely shows that the GNS is installed in place of the default Microsoft GPS gauge, and pops up in conventional fashion.

I want to ask you to give me an example of the MindStar GNS working properly in a panel that DOES have a GPS installation......please?

@Bert - Good to see you here. IMHO you are right. I do get a hand on the MindStar gauges' screen plus what looks like a tooltip which says "Zoom 530" or "Zoom 430". This click is apparently not handled properly unless the aircraft is pre-configured in some way so we can't install the MindStar in a panel that is not designed for it......I don't have problem with that provided I am told that is so by the developers.

Here's what I know... and it's going to be the end of this discussion:

1 - The gauge functions correctly, without any issues at all.

2 - The gauge can be placed into any aircraft, however the user has to be tech savvy enough to know what they're doing.

3 - The VC of an addon is not something we have access to or control over.

4 - Making the VC work is not something we can do, only the individual(s) with the VC's source can do that.

5 - Making other developers support our product is not something we can do, it is completely up to them and I know certain developers go out of their way to kill functionality with 3rd party avionics.

Your final sentence shows that you have an expectation that is unrealistic in that you think we should tell you something that may or may not be 100% correct (in fact, it's not BUT...). We seriously have neither the time nor the inclination to purchase every single addon and test them for whether they made it possible to add our GNS units.

On that note, I consider your support issue closed.

You might not like that, however I firmly believe that there is nothing I can say or do to satisfy you. You seem more intent at this point to lay blame where none can be placed.
