Looking for tip to get the most out of a golden age aircraft

Recommended Posts

I've got some 'golden age' aircraft I'm playing around with, at the moment, and I want to learn to get the most out of the engine because of a race I want to enter.

For example, I read that the Alabeo Beech staggerwing should be able to perform at a speed of 191KTS and so far I'm able to push it to about 180KTS, so I would like to get those last KTS out of the engine.

If anyone could hand me some tips&tricks on how to get the most out of the engine, or can point me to some reading or videos that explain about this topic, would be great! :)

I am no expert on 'golden age' aircraft but pretty much regardless of aircraft/engine type the following is true - you get the best TAS at particular

temperature/pressure (altitude) combination. You either have to experiment and find out the hard way or get the aircraft POH/data.

It was indeed a more general question, since I've got several aircraft to test.

Thanks, Michael, I'll see what I can come up with.
