Some really great people and some good advice over there.
April 19, 200521 yr You know, I've never really been able to get my head round the ATR. It's a superb simulation and I'm very impressed with the whole package, but I've just never got round to learning to operate it properly. I take it out from time to time and fly a few manual circuits (accompanied by various bleeping noises), but haven't yet sorted out a proper flight. A certain 767 has become the latest toy, so the ATR doesn't get much of a look in at present. It's a problem with all these wonderful complex addons that keep appearing - my ageing grey cells can't cope with more than one at a time. Such a hardship eh?Ian
April 19, 200521 yr The ATR comes with a 400 page, at times hard to understand, manual and most of the serious minded folks that inhabit the ATR forum will insist that you read every last syllable before entering the virtual ATR cockpit. However, there are a few posters who have done the hard yards and have provided some very handy check/cheat lists for those of us who find wading through large chunks of technical jargon a chore. If you follow these checklists closely and seek out the bits you don't understand in the manual you will be up and flying quite quickly. The aircraft itself is a marvel and if you like complex aircraft such as the PMDG 737 etc. you will enjoy it. There are two tutorials included in the doco but they assume a fair degree of familiarity with the aircraft so not all the helpful for the raw beginner.Bruceb Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
April 19, 200521 yr I don't have the 1900c, but assuming it uses default gauges, you want to intercept the glideslope from underneath with approach mode enabled, and plan to intercept at least five miles out. At decision height, turn off the A/P and land manually. When APR mode kicks in, you should see the aircraft pitch down slightly to intercept the glideslope. Use the thrust to help APR mode maintain the glideslope at that point. The 1900 series are such great hand flyers that I seldom use APR mode--but it does work, at least on the 1900D.-John
