Intel i7 4770K v.s. i7 4790K

Recommended Posts

Here's a compare between the 4770K and 4790K

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Core_i7_4790K/1.html

I skimped on tech on my last system...  I won't next time... I'd probably get the 4790K if I were upgrading from any thing older than 3 years.  I also do photo editing (lots of Adobe stuff) and some video encoding.  And I use other games like Battlefield 4.

If you're only using FSX - yeah the 4690k is great.

I am just beginning the process of educating myself, in preparation for building an FSX tuned PC.  I read this article today and wonder if those of you who actually know what your doing would care to comment?   Here's the link:  www.pcworld.com/article/2839376/build-a-hellacious-pc-with-intels-devils-canyon-and-amds-dual-gpu-graphics-monster.html

I like the devils canyon processor, but am not sure the dual GPU is any benefit to FSX.  In fact it might make it perform worse, if I'm understanding the info I've been seeing.

Thanks, my first post!

Mating a the NVIDIA 650 with a 4770k or 4790 will severely bottleneck your rig. Remember that the 2nd number is the more relevant when it comes to NVIDIA card specs. The 1st number denotes the generation of card and the 2nd indicates the performance class. Thus, a 580GTX would be superior to say, a 660ti. I would regard the 660ti or 760 as a bare minimum for running FSX with any Haswell, Ivy, or even an  older Sandy bridge chip. Regards
