Beautiful shots!  The reason I now use P3D 2.4 exlusively.  Sure some of my paid expensive aircraft sims don't work yet and some sceneries don't woek either, but the atmosphere, working weather and seasons are stunning.  Most importantly of all, no more flashing textures, micro stutters, just a smooth flying experience.

Thanks Rob for sharing.

Thanks all, I really enjoyed this flight out of the Land of the Rising Sun ... how appropriate (although in this case it was the setting sun - oh well close enough).

Cheers, Rob.

Ok Rob, I couldn't resist any longer. Your screenshots and videos convinced me to pull out my credit card and purchase P3D. I haven't had much time with it yet, but am impressed so far. As usual, I'm late to the party but it looks like a good one.

Rob, the shots are stunning. I have P3D 2.4 and a high end Haswell and a high end GPU and my P3D still comes out blurry. Your P3D looks great. How do you do that? Could you side post what your settings are? I just can't get my P3D to look like that.

Hi Lee,

Sounds like you have FXAA on?

These are my "normal" settings: http://www.robainscough.com/P3D_V2.php -- however they change based on location and add-ons being used ... for some reason Nagasaki was one of the those locations that really let me turn up the graphics settings.

I don't usually use nVidia Inspector and leave nVidia Control panel at default/application controlled ... however, in this case I was getting such good performance that I opt'd to use SGSS AA (only 2X) and didn't notice much of a performance hit even with the clouds (but if it was overcast that may have been different).  Weather distance is maxed at 110mi

Also keep in mind I'm running a 4K monitor @ 3840 x 2160 resolution so my need for AA is less.

EDIT: I'm in the process of building a "monster" rig for Xmas time (5Ghz Haswell-E X99 3200 Mhz RAM) to replace my now dated i7 3960X ... hoping for about a 30% performance gain.

Cheers, Rob.

As usual, I'm late to the party but it looks like a good one.

It's as good as you want to make it  :Peace:

If you experience turbulence, fasten your seat belts and ride it out

Cheers, Rob.

Thanks for the advice, I will try those things out. So far I have kept tweaking to a minimum and only in the program. No NVI yet.

P.S. Tried a few of your settings, much improved!

Default scenery is fine now, 3rd party scenery still a bit blurry. I'll work on that. I have been reading around that we might need NV Inspector to clean up 3rd party scenery. I will try to do it with out that for the moment. If I can get it looking like your pix, great! At the moment I have FSX looking great with my new rig. Next P3D.

Some of the subtle elements:

1. 3rd to last, Control Tower beacon reflection in the water

2. 5th from top, stair shadows on the building

3. 6th from top, birds reflection in the water

4. last, cloud shadows on the water in the far distance

5. 10th from top, sun light projecting inside the cockpit from external view

I am actually amazed at just how many 3D calculations must be done in order to reach this level of realism ... it boggles my mind I can actually measure this in frames per second rather than seconds per frame.

Cheers, Rob.
