Thanks Rob, but the full story is that I tried both Firefox and Explorer on two seperate computers and Safari on a third.  Early this morning I could only connect to prepar3d.net, later I could connect to both prepar3d.net and prepar3d.com, and now only prepar3d.com.  So I guess that must mean everything is OK, even if I don't have a clue.

Sounds like the DNS propagation took a while for your area/ISP connection.

 

An A-RECORD update can take upto 48 hours to distribute across the DNS servers, the more remote the location or unknown the ISP the longer that can take.  A-RECORD is an entry that points a domain name like www.prepar3d.com to an actual public IP address so when you type the prepar3d.com into your browser it contacts you local DNS to get the actual IP address of the server.  If that a-record is not yet present on your local DNS (or is old pointing to a server that is no longer running) it will return an error or not found.

 

This happens when a new server with a different IP is setup and a web site is migrated to the new server with a different IP.  LM then update the DNS they own (www.prepared.net, www.prepar3d.com, etc.) with the new server's IP address.  For the US this usually takes about 2-3 hours tops East to West coast coverage ... meaning that's how long it take to get all the DNS servers updated with the new IP address.
