PMDG MD11 Deletes ENTIRE Texture folder!

Recommended Posts

I heard if their software detects a black listed serial they DELETE your texture folder. Isn't that illegal? Modifying or even DESTROYING files that aren't theirs?
PMDG is an exceptional company. BUT THIS IS ABSURD.

I was going to reply, but Jim already covered just about everything I was going to say.

I'm not sure if PMDG's installer actually does this or not, but the license for the software specifically gives the company the right to delete their intellectual property from a computer system if it is found to be stolen, and the end-user has no recourse if said removal happens to cause collateral damage.

There is plenty of physical-world precedent this sort of thing. In many states, individuals or companies have broad immunity from prosecution or civil suits for any physical damage they may cause to another person's property in the legitimate recovery of stolen goods - or even simple repossession of collateral.

If I read your initial post correctly, you seem to be admitting that you were running the MD-11 with a pirated serial number? Please correct me if I am wrong...

Dear all,

I have had the MD11 installed for a while now, and with the last commercial flight soon, I thought I would take it for a spin. I downloaded and installed the KLM livery off of the PMDG website. Started fsx, only to realize EVERY time I click fly now fsx crashes. I restarted my pc, thinking it was a usual hiccup. Next time I start fsx, I notice a message while loading saying "(Textures) Directory does not exist". Confused, I check my main FSX folder to see if my texture folder was somehow renamed. THEN I REALIZED THERE WAS NO TEXTURES FOLDER. I am extremely furious.  Whatever happened, it is obviously an issue of PMDG.

Sorry for my anger.

Please help me

What if he bought it second hand and did not know. Then the company is in the same level with pirates.

From the wording of the initial post, it was obvious that the OP was well aware that the software was running under a pirated serial number.

In most jurisdictions of the US, and other countries, purchasing stolen property - either knowingly or unknowingly - is itself a crime. The law provides no relief to those who suffer loss or damage associated with recovery of stolen property by the legitimate owner.

I'm most angry that he didn't sign his post.

He never does. He posted a similar thing about the T7 and Dan Downs asked him politely to sign-in, which he ignored.
