Windows fatal error(windows 32 bit)

Recommended Posts

Before I begin, I would like you to note that because of my age, I do not have the money for a new computer and as such cannot buy one at this time. This only happens on long flights for me, but I will be flying for say 30 minutes, leave to grab something, come back, try and switch something, then get the fatal error report. Right now I am not running a very good system, a net-book from 2009, but it still runs fsx pretty well, and I can get planes like the pmdg to run a good 20-30 frames on it(specs are about 3 gigs of usable ram, a Nvidia ge210m that due to my integrated graphics card, I cannot update, and a genuine Intel 1.3 GHz CPU, of course all of this running on windows 32 bit ). I just want to make sure if there is anything I can do to keep this from happening(like a file error or something similar) that might be able to fix this without changing any hardware. I have run fsx in compatiblity mode(to xp service pack 3) and I have ran as administrator and it has not fixed this problem. It is not the biggest deal, but if anyone has a solution it is much appreciated.

Thanks

then get the fatal error report

The AVSIM CTD Guide, located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots provides a link to AppCrashView which provides a detailed report of your Windows Error Reporting (.wer). You need to download and post the latest crash report here so that we can take a look at it.

You do not have a very powerful system for FSX but you are aware of that. You can still run FSX with default settings and default aircraft at around 100-150 fps which is more than sufficient. It's when you crank up those fsx settings and add addons when fsx begins to feel sluggish and you start seeing crashes more often. The only solution is to keep your settings near the default as determined by the FSX developers when you first started up FSX. For 32 bit systems, FSX is limited to 2GB's of virtual address space (VAS) by Windows (not by FSX). You can increase this to about 3GB's by employing a switch. The following link provides instructions for autocad but it works for FSX too - http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-enable-a-3GB-switch-on-Windows-Vista-Windows-7-or-Windows-XP-s.html.

Although you have an integrated video card, you can still update the video card drivers at Nvidia.

The AVSIM FSX Configuration Guide, located to the right of this forum under Hot Spots provides some excellent settings that work for many individuals for FSX and your Nvidia video card. Hope this helps.

Thank you, I have done the switch to 3 gbs and I got this from my crash report. Also forgot to mention, the aircraft I was flying wasn't a payware aircraft. It was a posky 777 with a somewhat terrible vc(it did not have engine specs on it just the nav display and the pfd).I should also note I did have chrome running a few tabs in the background, which may have led to the crash.

I should also note I did have chrome running a few tabs in the background, which may have led to the crash.

Anything running in the background while using FSX takes up resources, especially if you use Tabs in Chrome or IE.

You had a BEX crash with an unknown faulting module (usually is a StackHash). BEX – Buffer Exception Overrun or Buffer Overrun. More information about BEX crashes can be found at the following link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffer_overflow. In the AVSIM CTD Guide you might want to look at probable solutions for BEX/StackHash crashes. There are no known solutions that work for everyone. You will have to conduct an investigation.

I do not know why your have a really old Microsoft Visual (before Microsoft Visual 2005) in your main FSX directory which is loading every time you start up FSX - LoadedModule[191]=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\MSVCR70.dll. This is definitely abnormal. Maybe it was somehow installed with the Posky gauges? FSX was developed with Microsoft Visual 2005 w/SP1 (which you have installed)(MSVCR80.dll). So, anything earlier than that is certainly strange and I have never ever seen a Microsoft Visual file in the main FSX directory before. I would suggest you move the file to a temporary folder and see if this fixes your problem.

I did not see where Microsoft.net 2.0 loaded. Make sure it is installed.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

  • Flight Simulation's Premier Resource!

AVSIM is a free service to the flight simulation community. AVSIM is staffed completely by volunteers and all funds donated to AVSIM go directly back to supporting the community. Your donation here helps to pay our bandwidth costs, emergency funding, and other general costs that crop up from time to time. Thank you for your support!
