Thrust reduction

Recommended Posts

Hello Bryan,

In the takeoff briefing i noticed that the minimum thrust reduction altitude is 1000ft, but i sometimes use 800ft or 500ft depending on the aircraft weight, and in most cases in a very short trip, but is not possible to select lower than 1000ft. Is possible to change this in a future update ?

Thanks!

Hi Jason,

The Brief is just audio; your selection in this field will not affect the simulation accept for an audio climb call.

If you setup the FMC using different thrust reduction values, that's totally fine.

Are you using a 3rd party program that is telling you to use 500 foot thrust reduction altitudes?

Nop, i use 300, or 500 based on aircraft weight to avoid 4000 and 5000 fpm climb. Only with heavy gross weight i use 1000/1500 for thrust reduction. Ok then should be no problems. Thanks for your reply

You can do that, but it's not realistic (nor safe or legal) to reduce thrust and climb angle at such low altitude.  The absolute minimum altitude for thrust reduction is 800 and acceleration is 1000...but hey it is flight sim!  Where you can land a 747 at Bowerman and fly underneath the Golden Gate Bridge without any repercussions whatsoever!
