AppHangB1

Recommended Posts

Hello guys

So last night I bought and install FS2Crew 777. I decided to do a KEWR - EGLL flight to test it out. Also, at the time, it was my first flight trying PMDG SP1c. So I start using FS2Crew, and for whatever reason, I can't get anywhere. I'm at the gate setting things up, and out comes the "Not responding" message. I have tried to do multiple flights, but I get the same result. I turned off the real -time scanning on my anti-virus. I delete my FSX.CFG file. For the record, I was able to do a PMDG 737 with FS2Crew out of KEWR no problem. VAS seem to be no issue. I'm pushing my system, but not to the 4GB limit. At the time of the crash, here are the addon being used: Active Sky Next SP1. NYCX. NYC Airports (KEWR).PMDG 777 SP1c. And FS2Crew PDMG 777. Here is the report.

you are using windows 8, right? Can you post/attach FSUIPC log? And uiautomationcore.dll version?

I turned off the real -time scanning on my anti-virus.

Turn off your McAfee Anti-virus program - LoadedModule[96]=c:\PROGRA~2\mcafee\SITEAD~1\saHook.dll. It does not need to be running while using FSX or at least disable it completely for the program FSX.

You can try removing FSX SP2 in the Add/Remove Programs and then reinstall it. It will not rewrite your fsx.cfg, dll.xml, scenery.cfg but, just in case you are worried it will, backup the files.

If you have any tweaks in your FSX.cfg, suspect one of them to be the culprit. This is why we recommend rebuilding your FSX.cfg (which you said you did but then you said you disabled your anti-virus program too).

There is no known fix for your application hanging. You have to investigate which unfortunately could take a long time or you could be lucky and it will be fixed immediately (like uninstalling/reinstalling SP2 or rebuilding your fsx.cfg so that no tweaks are enabled or disabling your modules in the dll.xml or disabling all of your addon scenery in the scenery.cfg).

Hey Jim, thanks for the reply. I decided to do a clean reinstall. 6 hours and I'm almost done. I will follow your advice, and try to re-do any tweaks that I had before again. Will follow up and let you know the results.

Good luck with the reinstall. Sometimes it is best to restart with a fresh installation. I do not recommend you reapply any tweaks though. I do not believe in tweaks and they are well known for messing up many systems and FSX.

Hey Jim

I reinstall everything (very tedious!). Took the T7 for a couple of test flights. First couple of flights yield the same apphangb1 result. In one flight, I took ASN out of the equation. I manage to taxi to the runway where I was waiting in line...then had an apphangb1 freeze. The following flight I decided to add back ASN, but take out all traffic (My Traffic X5.4C) completely via the sliders in the FSX settings. I manage to taxi out, takeoff, climb to around 20,000 feet, where I decided to quit the sim, as I had to go work. I'm still not quite sure what's the root of the problem. I followed your advice about the anti-virus. What I try to do next is do another test flight, but with the 2012 MTX schedule, as I have heard the 2013 causes problem. Will follow up with any new developments

Why are you using any of those schedules? Those were thrown out there by the developer on his website just incase maybe you wanted to do some plane spotting from flight plans back in the old days. The program installs a default flight plan which is all you need (unless you are a professional plane spotter or want to try a flight you took in 2013 or 2014 which might be in the default schedule). If the developer wanted you to download and install those flight plans, he would have made it part of the installation process.

An application hanging is much different than a crash as it will not show you any faulting module or give you any other clues. It could be that you threw in the uiautomationcore.dll into your main fsx folder and fsx just does not like it so it hangs up. Or, it was calling a texture or a gauge and it could not find it so it hung up. If My Traffic X is involved, then you will get a StackHash or maybe an ntdll.dll as the faulting module. If those errors are not showing up in your crash report, then it is definitely, 100% not My Traffic X. The programs that you are mentioning (ASN and T7) as possible causes cannot be the causes of your hangups or freezes. It's impossible. Otherwise, wouldn't everyone who owns those programs be seeing those freezes/hangs too? No, you have a problem with your system configuration or your FSX.cfg. If they have been modified in any way, they should be immediately suspected of causing the problem. Did you know that there are a lot of computer processes and software processes running in the background while you are running FSX? Did you know there are programs that were loaded into your startup to run schedules and other tasks in the background? So, while you are flying around and using up a lot of resources, here comes along a non-fsx task that is loading in the background as a result of a task or schedule. It decides that it wants to check the Internet for an update and see if something new is available and, if it finds it, it decides to go ahead and download it, maybe even install it in the background. FSX doesn't like that. Doesn't like it at all and just hangs up because some software program or computer process decided to do its thing while you were using the sim.

Now, to stop this from happening to a large extent (not completely), you can run msconfig and open up the Start tab and disable everything under that tab. Those actions are not needed to run your computer and ALL software makers put them there because they wanted to show you they can be a great program and run schedules/tasks for you while maybe you're writing a letter to Uncle Joe. They didn't realize you wanted to run FSX and a bunch of other memory intensive programs. Anti-virus/malware programs are big time on doing these types of things. That's why you just have to disable all of that stuff before you start up FSX. Another process might be a program checking on the licenses for your products to make sure you having legal software.

Hopefully you can get it figured out soon. Just remember, your freezes can almost be caused by anything and, whatever program is running (like FSX) when it happens, FSX will be shown as the app name but not the cause of the crash.
