PMDG B777 Windows 8.1 problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, yesterday i updated windows to version 8.1, then i started a flight with the B777 of PMDG, and i saw that the cloche was fully turned to the left, the throttle to full position, and all the screens were black. The cockpit was not clickable. If i move the joystick nothing happens, so the aircraft does not recognize my commands. The other aircrafts work well, and also the PMDG B737ngx. Can someone please help me?

Sorry, my original post was corrupted... I wrote quite a bit after the quote but IE11 and AVSIM do not play well together so I've got FireFox running today.  Same as Win8 and FSX, common problem is Win8 powers down the USB and you are left with no controller.  Also note that on B777 product web page they were pretty iffy about Win8 working with PMDG - for some okay for others no so much. Use Google to search PMDG WIN8 and see what you come up with, there are tips and suggestions out there.

AVSIM has a WIN8 forum, you might visit there too: http://forum.avsim.net/forum/590-win8-os-forum/

I've never lost my controllers while running Win 8.1, FSX and PMDG 737NGX or 777X, but I use FSUIPC4 to control everything.  IE11 is junk and I highly recommend Firefox.

Jim,

I'm doing some pre-purchase research on the B777 vs. FSX and Win8.1, and I'm noticing some writeups about how the PMDG 777 doesn't get along with FSUIPC-managed throttle settings.

Considering how using FSUIPC is effectively a necessity to getting stable controllers under Win8.1, can you talk a bit about whether or not you have any special throttle settings in FSUIPC for the 777, or if everything is set up the same for you?

Thanks!

-Greg
