Taburet night lighting in P3D 2.4?

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if any of you is using Taburet's night lighting in P3D 2.4.  If you do, what do you think of it?  Performance OK?  Appearance OK?  How does it play with FTX Global night lighting?

Their last two releases cover the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic US, where I do most of my flying, so I'm interested.  On the other hand, I'm trying to keep my P3D install relatively simple, so if results aren't extraordinary or if setup is wonky, I'll pass.

Thanks in advance for any results you can share.

Thanks, good to know.  I run without HDR (don't like the extreme glare/bloom effects).

Follow-up questions - do you run it with FTX Global?  If so, do you turn off the FTXG vector lights?

Any performance issues with Taburet?

Am grateful for any additional... um... light you can shed...

Taburet lights are looking nice.

As I am using HDR I had to resize and recolour the lights.

Night Environment is looking even better.

I use it with HDR and without modified lights.

Thanks - I've used night environment - and found the frame rate hit too much even on level 1, so was wondering if Taburet might be easier on my PC.

Alan mentioned FTX global and FTX vector lights - both of which I am using, I'll try Night environment with vector lights off and see if that helps.

Any noticeable difference in frame rates between Night Environment and Taburet for you?

I have the Taburet lights for MI/ILL/MO with FTX Global and Vector. The products work together without issue on my system. I experienced a minor frame drop, but not enough to make a difference to me.

I find, that to my eye, the Taburet lights fill in much nicer than the ORBX lights, as for me, the ORBX lights tend to "pop" into view as you are flying over them, but the Taburet lights fill in to the horizon, as it looks when I am flying RW.

With that observation, I admit, that I am still experimenting with my setup.

My pc can handle both NE and 3D Lights.

How ?

I have 2 different p3d.cfg files : daytime flying and nighttime flying.

The only difference is that in the nighttime flying file :

- the lod radius is one notch to the left compared to daytime flying

- autogen is 2 more steps to the left

- ai traffic aircraft 5% less

- all shadows off

- mesh 10m instead of 5m ( mountains/hills)

If you use car traffic set it less when nighttime flying.

Thanks Joe, sounds promising - especially on the frame rates.

An excellent idea, I'll try some changes to the cfg, there's a lot of scope for cutting back on some of the eye candy that's not really needed at night, and using a cfg dedicated to the task, makes a lot of sense.

I still haven't gotten around to buying any - but might, based on today's reactions to your question (and thanks, guys, for the answers you posted today - extremely helpful).

I'm hesitant to add anything new to my 2.4 setup, since I'll have to reinstall everything if/when I move to 2.5.

On the other hand, experimenting with one of their products and then reinstalling it doesn't sound like a huge burden, so I might check it out.

Will report back if and when I get them going.

Hi! Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I dont understand how you can get Aerosofts NE to look good in P3D with HDR enabled. On my system, with HDR enabled, the light intensity is reduced to a minimum and I can barely see the light bulb sitting 10 m from it.
