Autopilot in Lear 45 is EVIL!

Recommended Posts

I never know for sure if the autopilot in the Lear 45 in FSX is going to maintain the heading, altitude, and speed I set... sometimes it does all three just fine and dandy then sometimes it will simply have it's own mind on one or all three!

It's a little disconcerting to set the altitude to 12,000 and suddenly see the aircraft nose dive for the surface or point to the sun at high noon or to have it leave the course I was steering to go 180 degrees from it when the AP is enabled.

Speed seems to be a bit more tame but still sometimes has a mind of it's own... more than once it has gone from a nice sedate cruising speed of 200K to well over 350 and headed for mach 1....

Of course all of this is probably my unfamiliarity with USING the AP and I am doing something out of sequence or not engaging the right control or something like that...

It works no differently than any of the other FSX auto pilots.

One thing to make sure you check is your Pitot Tube (Probe) heat to be on!  It gets cold up

in the "Wild Blue Yonder" and will affect how the aircraft flies, even with AP and AT on.
