Just installed P3D... got a controller question.

Recommended Posts

From what I can tell so far, my controller(s) need to be set up for each individual aircraft? Is there a method to have a 'global' controller set-up that will be used by every aircraft kind of like in FSX?

I also installed FSUIPC and that also has the ability to set up aircraft profiles for each aircraft but it also allows FSX to use basic settings for all the installed aircraft.

I didn't find this info in the 'learning center' (aka, help file) for P3D... it's probably there.

You can easily set up FSUIPC to use as "Global" as well.  Just open FSUIPC with an aircraft you have not assigned to any profile yet.  Then set all the buttons and axis you want to use as your default.  I do that for a basic throttle, rudder, ailerons, parking brakes, etc.  Close FSUIPC.  Now every time you add a new aircraft you have a base of functionality to start with.  You can then start customizing for you particular aircraft and save this as a new profile.

Thant works for me,

You can save as many controller profiles as you like in P3D by using the Export/Import option.

The profiles are located here:

Example: C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Controls

The profiles are NOT automatically loaded when the aircraft is loaded ... you will need to import your saved profile for aircraft of choice.

Cheers, Rob.
