Gulfstream Products

Recommended Posts

Any word on anybody making high quality Gulfstream products? I currently work for a company that flies G550's and I would like fly the aircraft without having to spend a butt load of cash for certification and gaining years of experience before flying for my company.

Gulfstream Aerospace is extremely protective of its brand. They will not license any flight simulation developer to produce emulations of any of their products. Anyone who tried to do so - (at least a for-profit developer) - would most likely be sued by GAC for trademark infringement.

It's unfortunate, but the company is not likely to ever permit any FS developer to produce a Gulfstream add-on.

haha - noticed that. Kinda sad if you ask me, but it's their brand. They're free to protect it as they wish.

You mean crippling debt and years of training only to work as an instructor for years to gain "experience" and then work your way up to fly a decently large airplane, only to make around 30k a year doesnt sound fun???

Haha sorry, you're right. Just thought id be a sarcastic debby downer as Im currently in the ramp stages of my aviation career... but lets stay on topic!

I agree and would love a Gulfstream product. I think flightsim is just now catching up on quality corporate jets. Too bad Gulfstream has such strict copyright rules.

Any good hi-fi business jet would make me quite happy, no matter if it was Bombadier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer or Gulfstream.

The Eaglesoft offerings are getting really old and besides the F1 Mustang there is not much going on with regards to general aviation jets AIFAK.

Once upon a time I bought the WILCO Citation, but I really can't get myself to even install it anymore. The JS41 is fair enough to emulate a small charter operation, but I'd prefer a contemporary turbofan model.

I was about to say somewhat of the same, but then I realized the US Congress, in their infinite wisdom, screwed most of the pilot population over, making this issue even worse. So, while it certainly wasn't encouraging, it wasn't entirely off base...

Only the United States Government would:

  1. Create an agency in charge of regulating aviation because it realized it needed specialists to understand it
  2. Witness an accident; and
  3. Undercut said agency (along with the NTSB) by ignoring it, and preemptively creating a rule that pilots need ATPs to work for the airlines, even in the right seat (increasing the mins by about 1250 hours).

...the kicker is that they did this in reaction to CJC3407, which was caused by the ATP-rated captain (as cited by the NTSB).

So...clearly ATP = safe...right???

I have a commercial ticket and a fair amount of MEL time, but the going rate for a pilot was so far below my rates as an engineer that the only jobs I took were the fun ones, like an expense paid trip to KLAS.  I marvel at the folks who slug it out flying nightly Caravan trips for UPS just building hours, it takes something I don't seem to possess.

I didnt really mean what i said to be taken THAT seriously but then again sarcasm is usually lost through the keyboard....

But yes Im speaking from my own experience as a pilot working in Canada ( thank god). And while it may not be as bad as in the US  (that right seat ATPL rule is total BS)  it still is nothing to brag about. I could go on about the entry level aviation industry in the US and Canada but i dont want to hijack this topic...

Maybe they do it for the love of flying, Duco?

As do I !!!

Every single pilot does it for the love of flying because otherwise lets face it, why become a pilot?

I just wrote it as a sly remark to todays aviation industry in North America. It just came out as a poorly written and misinterpreted joke and nothing else....
