Video driver crashes with Nividia 344.65

Recommended Posts

Had my screen go black today twice as the video card driver crashed.  Its also being reported as an issue on the Nvidia forums and rumour is a new driver will be out this week to hopefully correct this issue.  Anyone else have this problem?  My card is 970.

Sorry to hear that. Have this driver from the beginning running without problems.

I have a 770 card.

Mark,

I have found that I get the "black" screen after installing new drivers, especially using DSR. I have found a solution that works for me.

Here are the DISPLAY.Device entries from my FSX.cfg:

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti.0]
Mode=2560x1600x32
Anisotropic=1
AntiAlias=1

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti.0.0]
Mode=2560x1600x32
Anisotropic=1
AntiAlias=1

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti .0.0]
Mode=5120x3200x32
Anisotropic=1
AntiAlias=1

And my entries from P3D:

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti.0.0]
Mode=2560x1600x32

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti .0.0]
Mode=5120x3200x32

I noticed when I run in DSR mode, even once, the last entry is created in both CFGs. I have three DISPLAY.Device entries for the FSX; the second is for DX10. Note the difference between the second and third entries: Ti.0.0 vs Ti .0.0 for FSX and the same difference in the P3D cfg display entries.

Anyway, to get the DSR drivers to work I deleted the "Ti .0.0" (the one with the extra space between the Ti and the .0) entries in both cfgs, then saved the changed cfgs. I would then go into the programs and reset the screen resolutions to my desired settings. After doing this I have no issues ALT-ENTERing between windowed and full screen modes, and I have no more "black" screens and changed desktop resolutions. Of course make a back up of your cfgs prior to making any changes as YMMV.

Hope this helps.

I experienced the black screen with P3D v2.4 and a GTX 670.  It only happened once this past weekend but it was in the middle of a flight.  I'm looking forward to the new driver and thanks for posting this as I now know it wasn't something on my end.

344.65 work fine here in FSX DX10 using a GTX570. I' m no sure though, if there's any performance or visual gains.

Just installed it but have not had time to test.  Only problem is that PhysX and GeForce Experience did not install.  Normally I only install the driver itself but I did the default install thinking this may be required for DSR....can anyone confirm?

Maybe that's why they released a new driver after a week..

I normally only use the driver itself, making adjustments with Inspector. Prefer simplicity.

Best regards

I let Nvidia do a regular install of my drivers.  When I do that I don't have to do anything with NI.    I have installed .75 with no problems.

 You don't need to install the GeForce experience bloat to enable DSR, simple enough to set it up in the NV Control panel.

I now see more people leaving NI, doing adjustments in Nvidia's own control panel. What is your experience - is it better than Inspector? I really need to do alot of things in Inspector to make the sim look right, especially in the AA department. But can it be done better in Nvidia Control Panel?
