Wow, STUNNING!

I forgot that this epic liner FRANCE was already scrapped... Sad to see that our French neighbours did not save her. :(

She was taken out of service finally as the SS Norway, in a massive state of disrepair and apparently full of asbestos...

My parents sailed on her on a Caribbean cruise, what must have been around 2002...

The cost of repairing and restoring such a ship to service was prohibitively high, particularly in the post 11 September 2001 era...

Yep, you can't really halt the course of time or nature.  When it is the time for us to return to the elements, then little can stop that.    That of course applies to us humans, as well as ships.

But I'm sure she'll go on in a new form, when she's broken down.  She'll have new life.

I sailed on her a few times when she was the Norway what a ship, so much better than the floating boxes they call cruise ships today. There were several reasons she was broken up first damage to her engines from the explosion and second the upgrades new SOLAS regs for 2010 which would have cost over 100 million alone to complete. Never been a fan of SOLAS over the years very few ships have burnt compared to the number of them that made safe trips. Just more government meddling in my opinion.
