Opinions on this CPU Build

Recommended Posts

I am not against building my own CPU, never done it before but when I price up the components compared to the price cyberpower would do it for doesnt make much sense for me to screw something up and just let them build it!

Any thoughts on the below PC for FSX and possibily P3D in the future.  I fly mostly all airliners (Aerosoft, PMDG) to large citys with addon software.  Use ASN and REX.

Opinions on this CPU Build

I am not against building my own CPU

Just to clarify, a CPU is a processor (Central Processing Unit), it's not a computer.

4790K + 970 gpu on a good motherboard, with fast ram is exactly what it takes!

thanks for the replies, how is the hard drives, will this be good?  I know I have one SSD and then a regular Hard Drive.

Ideally you would have one SSD for the OS and one SSD for FSX, but that is stuff you can upgrade later.. the key components you have got.

Yeah in a perfect world I'd do one 512 GB for FSX, one 120GB for OS, and one 1TB HDD for rest of programs

Personally, I would pass on the hybrid drive and buy two separate drives, one SSD and one HDD. With the hybrid drive, if one half fails, you lose everything. At least with 2 separate drives all would not be lost. As Bert said, down the road you could add more drives, for storage/backup.

Guest JustanotherPilot

I'm compiling a list of components for a new build which includes the i7 4790K cpu, I'm also thinking of a Crucial MX100 256 or Corsair 240G Force LS SSD for the FSX/PSD dedicated drive.
