After some days of resting - the next leg: URML Makhachkala to UTDD Dushanbe.

No Caspian monster here around, but a Caspian moon instead

After a long distance of plain desert, the first mountains are a sight for sore eyes

And then comes the fog (south of the Fan mountains, at approach to UTDD)

Now if they had had FS in my geography lessons I would have enjoyed it and learnt a lot more.

I'm really enjoying your Interflug Tu-134 flights Harald …..keep 'em comin'.

Oh my, what would I have loved school! Anyway, in the former GDR we learnt a lot about the Soviet Union, but one thing I learnt only with the FS is that in Dushanbe is always fog in the winter season. Maybe this has something to do with its situation between some mountain ranges up to 5.500 meters.

Yeah, the Tu-134 makes a lot of work but also a lot of fun. There's always something to do, that's how it must be with ol' smokers. Furthermore, the model has its "singularities", and it may well be that it needs a further update (which is, according to the Russian forum, planned indeed). Nevertheless, it's one of the best FS9 jetliner models of its age I know. (At least it's the only one in which one is called for a meal by the stewardess - if I understand correctly).

Today: Over the roof of the world - the Pamirs. UTDD Dushanbe to UCFM (former UAFM) Bishkek.

Climbing out of the fog:

Wheather at approach? Same as always.

What a brilliant thread, never been "in" a Tupolev, but enjoy the old heavies with all their quirks, might just dive into the Russian ones one day!

Thanks for sharing Harald!

Cheers,

Many thanks Morten! It needs some time to get familiar with these planes, but you will not regret it. Especially if you visit the former home area of them, you will be rewarded with unique spotting opportunities, too:

Thanks Pugilist2!

Let's do some more spotting at Bishkek, something for you who love Russian Birds.

Our todays leg is UCFM Bishkek to UAAA Almaty; due to the very good weather conditions we will stretch this short hop into a scenic flight to Issyk Köl, a lake situated north of the highest Tienshan mountains.

Killer set and killer AI! ….love it Harald. :Applause:

The little Yak-40 trundling up the taxiway in the last shot is really cute.  :Cuppa:

It is clear to me that my FS9.5 will make it all the way through 2015.

I'm in love with the IL-76 right now and am doggedly trying to decipher the Russian manuals.

Ed,

I am glad that you like it. Yes, the Yak-40 did act like being piloted by a drunken one, minutes before it almost collided with another Yak-40 from Osh-Avia.

Yesterday, I had to make a break because my youngest son didn't want to sleep. (However, I hope that my FS9.x will make it until his first real flying attempts - I already think about buying a C 152 for him)

But here are some more pictures from the Tienshan. Inylchek Glacier with Lake Merzbacher and the peaks of Tengri Chan and Pik Pobeda:

In Almaty: Fog of course, but nice AI planes.

UAAA Almaty to UNWW Novokusnezk. So far not a very interesting flight, but nice impressions at approach and landing.
