Buffer Pools

Recommended Posts

What is the offical gouge on buffer pools?

Not needed?  Makes no difference?  Hardware dependent?

Some seem to think it made a huge improvement for them but that was back in the summer when we had version 2.2.

Doesn't make any difference what the "official" word is - we simmers tend to make our own decisions. LM has stated that HIGHMEMFIX is NOT needed and is incorporated into the CFG, yet I still read of users that swear that putting it in the cfg file solved their problems.

If *you* think that bufferpools makes a difference in your system - use it - otherwise don't. Asking others won't help because you'll get a bunch that can't live without it and others that will tell you that LM said it doesn't matter.

Seems like a no brainer to me.
