Disabling programs in FSX

Does anyone know if you can close a program automatically on FSX start up? I know how to start a program via the exe.xml, file but is it possible to do the reverse?

Example: I have Malwarebytes running and would like to have it stop when I start FSX. Yes, I know I can stop it manually but I usually forget. :unsure:

Not sure myself Ron but I know what you mean malwarebytes is a pia - you can not get it to shutdown in its menu options even if you dont want it to startup in windows - I have to manually close it in sys tray - it also come on when it wants to - hopefully someone will have an answer as malwarebytes does a good job

Hi Rich, I don't have a problem with being closed. Right click\Exit. It's just that I have only so many brain cells left....

Yes Ron but what irritates me is I can stop it from loading with windows even after setting it in the Malwarebytes gui - I have paid version and it just will not comply - it only really needs to be ran when you want to make sure all is good - this program doesn't need to be running all of the time - for me anyway but its a must program hence the full version purchase - two other musts are ccleaner and Spybot

Ah, I see what you mean. I too have the Pro version, I've just now de-selected 'start with windows', so I'll re-boot and see what happens.

Ron and Rich, I had the free version for sometime.  Since you both use it, is it worth going ahead and purchasing the premium?  That thing finds stuff all of the time. it is almost scary.

Hi Carl no need to buy it - with the free version all you have to do is start it up manually and works the same - the pay version runs all the time - this is the only difference - but get it very important piece of software

I just reinstalled the free version and already found 46 items. I guess it could casuse a few "burps" while flying if it is running behind the scenes. 

Ron I guess if you had the free version you would have more control?  By the way if I had behaved myself when I was much younger I wouldn't have kill so many of my brain cells and could be smart enought to fix your problem. (lol)

Ron, there are some popular startup managers but I just use a batch file to shut down program's I don't need when FSX opens and then start them up again automatically when I exit FSX. You can hide the CMD window easily enough and batch files are flexible and free. I have a small menu to select external program configurations depending on what I want to do with FSX. If you run the batch file as administrator you should have no problems with temperamental Windows software.

Most of the time it is flight sim websites.  By the way this was the first time I used the program in several months.

That sounds like an answer! The trouble is I go a bit all unnecessary when I hear the words 'batch file'.

I have both Malwarebytes and Superantispyware (Free versions) that are run once a week along

 

with a defrag.  I tried the free sample of the full Malwarebytes version and it drove me nuts

 

saying I was bombarded by malicious sites trying to invade my computer.  They find mostly

 

adware programs that get deleted in the weekly scans.  I also go to "Run" and type in msconfig, 

 

going to the start up menu to disable any program you don't want staring up with Windows.

Yikes 46 - I have never seen anything close to that maybe 2 or 3 - keep that on your pc - take care Carl
