FL in flight plan report

Bonjour,

 

1 In this report all the flight level are always given odd.

So in case of a even FL like FL330, i make the average between 320 and 340 for the wind speed direction and temperature, for the different waypoints.
After that I enter the figures in the FMC.

Is it the right procedure ?

If yes, could it be possible to have in a future version the even FL.

 

2 I also use PFPX and as there is no import from the OPUS weather other than through the GRID data, there is always difference in figures.

Of course it is inevitable, and it is not a big deal, but I have been told that's it is better to enter the PFPX data in the FMC as all the weather engines give for the different waypoints only the now data and not the predicted ones as PFPX does. It make sens to me as in OPUS there is no information concerning the aircraft. But I am not 100% sure.

Are you referring to the on screen weather reports?

 

These are limited to just 10 lines of text so yes they give just an overview of some flight levels. For flight planning you should, after specifying your Max Cruise Altitude (needed for any Sim Friendly adjustments) and generating the weather, refer to the various TEXT reports. All the flight plan text reports should give you your cruise altitude and a variety of levels above and below.

 

There is also a flight .rep report file which is intended for third party flight planners to extract the weather and atmospheric data.

If you are using OpusFSI with DWC enabled, then you could disable Sim friendly and then make use of the raw GRIB forecasted data.

OpusFlightReport (Flight Plan)

 

If you specify a flight plan in the weather dialog then a detailed flight plan weather report is generated each time the weather is updated. TAFs are included if you have enabled them in the Weather Download dialog. Any configured alternate Met stations are shown within the Route section of the OpusFlightReport text file and appended at the end of the Weather report section in an Alternates section. Bracketed wind and temperature averages for all altitudes ranging from 4000ft up to 44,000ft in 2000ft increments are included in the report. Unknown temperature and dew points within the flight plan report are shown as ??. The report is saved in the text file <OpusFSI>\Weather\OpusFlightReport.txt where <OpusFSI> identifies your OpusFSI installation folder.

N.B. The OpusFlightReport.rep text file is a simplified text report intended to supply weather and upper wind and temperature data for external flight planning packages.

 

You can add TAFs to the above and the .rep file is probably most suited to decoding in software. Have a look at your flight report txt and rep files.

No I know the FSX 10 lines limitation. I was referring to the report file.

Looks like you have not specified your Cruise Altitude within the Weather dialog before generating the weather and flight reports. I will check but I thought it would be synchronised to your specified Cruise Altitude.

If it doesn't I will change it so that either all altitudes are covered or sync it to your altitude.

I also noticed when importing a flight plan with different FL you only take in account the first one, even if we only stays few miles at this level.

You're right, it looks like its fixed to show FL040 through to FL440.

 

You should always specify your intended Max Cruise Level (but this is not needed unless you have the Sim Friendly options enabled).

 

I could look to showing all levels from FL040 through to FL440 at 1000 foot increments in both txt and rep reports.
