There is really nothing wrong with a thread like this, far as I can see.  It gives people a place to engage in some useless back and forth, during a period where there is nothing particularly exciting happening in flight simulation, and I think that is ok.

I´ll load up FSX instead with the Trike at Friday Harbour (nostalgia) - and say thanks to the Creators that we still have this awesome Flight Símulator to enjoy...

Fixed it for you...Its easy to get them to close it. But if they decide to close it nothing we can do will stop em.

I have no problem with a wee bit of speculation on a forum as this is the place to talk about these things. People say "maybe it will be 64-bit' and others rebut that theory. All in good fun. Lots of knowledgeable people on here so as a group we can almost pinpoint what to expect but would be interesting to see if there are any surprises....or not 

 

I am thinking the changes will be basic. It will install under:

 

Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSXSE

 

Also FSX.exe may change to launcher.exe (they have done this with other MS games that were moved over to Steam). So these two changes could create issues with third party installers not finding FSX.

 

Multiplayer will have changes but other then that I am not expecting much as I am certain DTG resources will go towards making a new Flight Simulator in the next year and not spend much time on FSX Steam Edition. It is 8 years old now so not worth spending time on it in my POV

I'm perfectly content with FSX as it is but can also understand why, for many different reasons, some people are interested in DTG's upcoming offering.

 

My only wish is that AVSIM will create a separate sub-forum for it, e.g., FSX: Steam Edition (or something like that), so I don't have to trod through thread after thread of questions, issues, problems, complaints, kudos, etc. related specifically to this repackaged product. In fact, this very thread could be the launch chatter for that new sub-forum.

This whole useless thread is.... useless, and people are still waiting for that "Holy Grail FSX" solution, but you won´t get it, it´s over, enjoy what you have, load the sim and fly, that was my point..

alpha12125 is right and I fear the same for the new Dovetail flight game!

 

I got the Dovetail Train Simulator 2015 for a few euros on a steam sale. It has some nice looking trains and its easy to get into. The routes about 300-400 meters right and left of the railroad tracks are nicely modelled. The scenery in the background looks odd some times. Also the ai passengers on the platforms look like a clone wars zombie army doing the Mikael Jackson moonwalk. Not that much effort went into modelling the ai virtual passengers apparently.

Lots of DLCs. A completely new train route is 29€.

The 4 year old son of a friend loves to play Train Simulator 2015!

I fear they have the mass market in their view, the casual gamer who loves easy games with nice eye-candy! Probably they think that they may have "lost" the hardcore simming crowd to P3D, X-Plane 10 and FSX "classic" anyway..so why cater to them anymore? Just a guess...

Always P3d and glad dovetail taking it on long term needs injection of new people with $$$ to revive the hobby. Bet money fsx steam add-ons will work in time 3rd party developers just like auto installers and code were reconfigured in P3D. Some hardcore people have ridiculous requests do nothing to add to immersion of flying. Make 90% happy and let 10% get angry is fine with moving the hobby forward.

So what you are saying is Flight Simulator was first released in 1979 and is ending right now, and in 50 years from now we will still be using what we have today???   :rolleyes:

 

As long as PC's keep moving forward so will this hobby. It has been that way since 1979, and I got started in 1983, so what I ride this has been for me.

Lots of people thought it was over when Microsoft bought Flight Simulator from Sublogic but that wasn't the case now was it. 10, 20, 30 years from now who knows but I will keep at it. One thing for certain is there has been a lot of people that come and go but this hobby continues to move forward with or without them, and always reinvents itself in new ways, keeps on getting better

Is it so hard to belief that a woman has an interest in planes and flight siming,  Yes I will agree I don't have the expertise that some of yous have in flying and dept of systems.

But I am just as excited  as everyone else about the release of any new product.
