777 Offset strange quirk

Recommended Posts

Greetings Captains,

I have encountered an odd issue when trying to perform an offset within the Boeing 777 fmc. If I go to the route page an enter L02 in the offset column the plane offsets to the right and if I type and confirm R02 I offset to the left. Am I doing something wrong?

Can you post a picture?

If you're looking at the XTK DEV, it might confuse you. When you type L02, you're offsetting the track to the left by 2 miles, but the XTK DEV will indicate that you're right of course (because you're currently to the right of the new course) and will decrease until you join the new course. When you remove the offset, it will do the same thing but in the reverse order: your course line will return to its original offset of 0, but the XTK DEV will show that you're 2 miles left of course and will decrease until you join the original course.
