End of the line for the A380?

Recommended Posts

Nice read. In the race for the next generation of airliners, I believe Boeing and Airbus both placed their own bets on the market for revolutionary new models.  Airbus with the A380, and Boeing deciding to go with the 787, as opposed to their own version of a superjumbo.   Neither were particularly successful launches, especially the 787, but it looks like Boeing has come out ahead in this little race.

The 787's time is yet to come, as more and more are delivered the success of the program will be seen.

Air New Zealand has been talking about a new route from Auckland to Chicago with the new 787-9 so this will be a first for that sort of distance, also allowing us to bypass the much disliked KLAX which ranks lowest in customer service.

Would be cool to see Air New Zealand's 787-9's at O'Hare Airport.

Too early for the A380 to go. It cost too much to make and now that is here it is ludicrous to give it up so easily. Just as it was for the B757 going away out of production much too soon. Airbus would make more money firing looney bean counters, their uselessness come fast nowadays.

Cheers,

No point making them if no one is going to buy them. ETOPS has largely seen to that. Passengers hating legacy hubs doesn't help. Who'd go to LAX or Heathrow (or Sydney) if they could avoid it?
