December 18, 201411 yr For the price I will go ahead and purchase but not install. Was wondering since my existing HD is nearing 80% full would the steam version work ok by purchasing an additional HD or SSD and install Steam FSX on a new HD? That would work just fine on a new drive. Steam allows you to pick the drive and directory for each game install now.

I keep all my steam games on a separate drive to the OS. Works perfectly even after an OS reinstall.

December 18, 201411 yr I am going to use Steam In-home streaming/networking to test out the 777 and ASN. The 777 doesn't like to be installed in 2 separate directories apparently. Brian Evans

Was wondering since my existing HD is nearing 80% full would the steam version work ok by purchasing an additional HD or SSD and install Steam FSX on a new HD? Since I'm currently installing FSX:Steam, I can answer your question definitively. When the installer runs, it will ask you where you want to install the program. The default is of course in the usual location (..\Program Files etc.), however... Since I also have a D: and G: drive, those were offered as optional install locations, so yes if you add a new HD or SSD you can direct the install to be done to that drive. IMHO, this is much more "User Friendly" than the MS method of hiding this non-default option under the "Options" button. Fr. I picked it up as a backup. I'll let you braver souls be the guinea pigs on this one.
December 18, 201411 yr Thanks all for your replies. I need to head out and pick me up a new HD. It is good to know they will give you install options. Went to purchase on steam and it appears there is already a back up with 11 people waiting. Amazing. December 18, 201411 yr Moderator Bill, Thanks, that's good to know. I picked it up as a backup. I'll let you braver souls be the guinea pigs on this one. The nice thing about Steam is that there's no limit on installations like there is with the MS disk versions. You can install to any or all of your computers as you like. I'm currently installing FSX: Steam version on my development computer, but not for "playing" FSX. I simply wanted a virgin, default path installation so I can test any new installers for my company's products. B) Fr. Sometimes they forget they own games.. Kind of great for developer to sell to people who didn't really 'want' the software.
