December 22, 201411 yr Hi, the title says it all: For the next 12 hours You can get X-Plane 10 with a 50% discount on the Steam winter sale. X-Plane 10 on Steam Just to let You know. Cheers!
December 22, 201411 yr This maybe just the opportunity to try X-plane. Would like to know how much HD space I may need since I am running out (about 200gbs left. Thanks for HU. December 23, 201411 yr Just bought it, downloading now. I had been toying with the idea for years now, $30 is a great opportunity to get into it.
December 23, 201411 yr Yeah, bought it, downloading it, but it is taking forever...... And the base copy is 16 Gigs, so yes you can enjoy the base copy
December 23, 201411 yr Author You can just download and install parts of the world like Europe or North America and install the rest later.
December 23, 201411 yr Thanks Kosty for the tip. I bought it - I have been curious to check it out!. Instead of the 9.99 euros on the L1011 for FSX (that I know would have little use...because I only use a few good quality aircraft), I think Xplane10 was (still is... for more 4 hours) with a nice price tag. December 23, 201411 yr Am downloading my copy of this too aswell. Seen some lovely videos and too good to miss at this price My youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/c/Dkentflyer
December 24, 201411 yr I also bought it at 50% the original price. The bargain was too good to miss! And I wanted to support the community, as well. I know the shortcomings, like the PITA UI, the empty airports, etc but I decided to give it a proper chance now that I invested to the full version. I am now re-partitioning my hard drive to give it a dedicated one. I think about 200GB should be enough, as I plan to install the HD mesh/scenery. I plan to get one (ok maybe two ) Carenado planes for half the price, and at least one Dreamfoil helicopter, probably the Bell 407. Let's see what this baby can do...
December 26, 201411 yr Darn, I missed the flash sale. X-Plane 10 is still on sale at a 30% discount till January 2nd. I'm going to hold out for a flash-back sale near the end of the Steam Holiday Sale. 50% is a hard discount to pass up. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB
December 29, 201411 yr Ok, this thing has immense potential!! I now believe I gave it a fair chance, unlike the demo version some years ago. I downloaded all continents from steam, set up the controls and made a research for the correct settings for my GPU mostly, as it's my current bottleneck. After that I made some test flights at Alaska (PAJN, PAGS-PAKW), KLAX and Europe (Innsbruck area) using the default aircraft (C172, King Air 90, Bell 206 and R22). The lighting.. The flight physics... OMG!!! Especially helicopters! The Dodosim B206 is the only thing in FSX helicopters that comes close enough. HTR engine in FSX also tries to catch up. But this thing is unbelievably realistic!! It sure needs very careful controller setup. Yes, there are shortcomings. The empty airports, the misaligned water reflections, ATC, seasons, etc, etc. I was just thinking what if X-Plane had the developer support that FSX enjoys? Orbx sceneries, PMDG, A2A, Realair aircraft? OOMs? What is this? Want 64-bit? You have it now. Multi-platform support? It's here. Given the potential of this sim the result would be mind-blowing! I just scratched a tiny, tiny bit of the surface of X-Plane. Next step is to get it close enough to the functionality of my FSX setup. Cloud textures, AI traffic, weather, camera tools. Then to install some freeware worldwide scenery enhancements. Then to get one or two payware planes and helicopters. And to have it as my main simulator for a month or two for FSEconomy flights. Let's see where this takes us...
