MD-11 appears to work in FSX-Steam Edition

Recommended Posts

Thanks, I will give it another shot again soon. I am wondering though, I don't think this is a registry issue, because I am also using a standalone SE. I did a clean install of Windows 10 about a month ago, so there are no traces of old boxed FSX. So why would that affect the zig-zagging problem?

Unless it's related to Windows 10 then no. I've stuck with 7 because it's tried and true. No interest in 10 or even 8. The registry repair will fix the zig zag issue and it does occur on stand-alone installs. The problem predates steam, Windows 10 and I believe occurred with other aircraft.

It works ok on my standalone steam edition (after cleaning all the boxed leftovers from registry etc.)

One thing I noticed it freezes momentarily every 9-10 seconds for 1 second or less. Is that normal for the MD11? I don't have that with other aircraft e.g. the maddog.

I am running W10 64, i7 4790k, GTX 970, HT off, and am using a standard steam cfg, no values specially high, frames are great and locked at 60, no AM, NVI 4xSGSS

It would be great to get rid of these mini freezes. Any help appreciated.

I've got this in Win10 64-bit 15-4670K GTX560Ti and have not experienced any mini-freezes. Are you running FSUPIC? If so, check for your auto-saves.

You are right, the auto-save was on. Disabling it or setting a greater time span solved the problem.

What a difference, it runs butter smooth.

Thanks so much!

I've been having a problem lately. A few days ago I once again installed the MD11 into steam and it was working flawlessly. Now a problem has randomly cropped up where the view system will not work at all, whether ezdok is running or not. With Ezdok, hitting my keys to select certain views don't do anything. And when I disable ezdok, I can't even to the spacebar-mouse default system for panning around. I can't use the + and - keys to zoom in or out either. If I hit them, as with the numeric keys for my ezdok views, the sim just freezes briefly.

I am able, in Ezdok, to pan around with the middle mouse button though.

Not having the problem with any other addon, so I know it's MD11 exclusive.

Any chance anyone has had problems with cockpit sounds in FSX:SE?  Engine sounds seem fine, but switches, guards, buttons seem to be missing their normal sounds.  Speakers appear correctly configured/selected in Windows/FSX.  Reinstall yielded no change (never had the issue in FSX SP2, but now just running stand-alone FSX:SE).

Thanks.

I've been having a similar problem, but the other way around; I can basically hear everything except engine sounds.

I've had this problem and in my case it was due to PMDGSounds.dll not working properly. Older versions, such as that installed by the 747, seem to be incompatible with FSX-SE. Mine is now version 10.0.61355.62, dated 14/03/2009 and my 747 and MD-11 cockpit sounds are back working. I uninstalled the 747 and MD-11, deleted all 747 and MD-11 folders and files (including PMDGSounds.dll, PMDGOptions.dll and PMDGEvents.dll), reinstalled the 747 and then the MD-11. As I recall, installation order was important with the older PMDG titles because of these shared files.

Another possibility is Win10 if you have upgraded to that. I'm still on Win 7 and currently intending to remain so.

Hi all I've installed PMDG MD 11 on FSX SE and the legacy SDK and it works fine. Just a few loose ends with GSX lol
