Can't Get the Auto Pilot Window to Open

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This is driving me insane. For some reason I can't get the Window which has a zoom in of the autopilot controls to open up. The manual says it's Shift+4 and there are also also some click points that can be used to open it but none work for me.

I re-installed 4 times and each time when I Shift+4 I get what a appears to be a popup window which lasts less than a second and goes away. Does anyone have any ideas what may e causing this? Thanks!

Strange.. have you made any modifications to the panel.cfg file?

Check if your Window03 looks like this:

[Window03]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=600 , 799
visible=0
ident=10030
position=7
no_luminous=1

window_pos=  0.05, 0.320
window_size= 0.287, 0.680

gauge00=GAUGE1900D!Gauge_AUTOPILOT_C90 ,     0,  0,600,799

.. or do you have any controller assigned to shift-3?

What happens if you go shift-2, shift-3, shift-4, shift-5?

Bert, thanks for your response.

No modifications to panel.cfg.

My Windows 3 is a exactl replica of yours

I have assigned no Shift-3 to the controller.

When I do the other Shift+ commands all the other windows pop up as noraml. Only Shift+4 will not function.

Sorry, I meant shift-4..

Cannot think of a reason.. you might try changing the numbering, swap window 03 and 04 and see if the problem changes..

Thanks for your thoughts. Nothing worked. I'm going to see if I can get a refeund though I'm sure that will be a lost cause.

If you go to ALT - VIEWS - Instrument Panel..  can you select it from there?

Yep, I tried all the windows and they all pop up as they should except the one mentioned with the auopilot. Hugely frustrating. I wrote Carenado Support but I know they are very slow. Thanks!

This is just too weird...

As a test, back up your panel.cfg file.

Then make the following changes, using Notepad.

//--------------------------------------------------------
[Window04]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=561,286
position=0
visible=0
ident=796

window_size= 0.280, 0.2850
window_pos = 0.010, 0.165
zorder=5

//gauge00=1900DKA!Control_windows,  0,0,561,286

gauge00=GAUGE1900D!Gauge_AUTOPILOT_C90 ,     0,  0,600,799

Then try to pop up window04  (shift-5 or from the Views menu)

The dimensions will be distorted, but do you get the autopilot?

No luck. However, something very odd. When I did press Shift-5 I get a quick pop up window but this time it stayed in view long enough for me to see that it looks like the opening  spash screen to FSXZ? That's spooky.

Do you have any other programs running alongside FSX?

Any fancy controllers?

FSUIPC mods?

Are your other airplanes all OK?

Is this the only problem in FSX?

Good questions. I have several other programs that run with FSX. I will try and unistall and some if that helps. No fancy contollers, just a logitech joystick. All other planes appear fine. I will do some trial and error and report results. Thanks so much!

I've made mods to the autopilot, so if all else fails, send me a PM and I can send you my modded autopilot to try..

Still having trouble figuring out what you may be looking at.. the B1900 is actually a really nice plane and well worth having in your hangar..  IMHO
