Another radar gauge for VC & Window usage

Recommended Posts

Very good news:

The ticket I have submitted to HiFi team to enhance their radar API with a vertical array data option has been validated!

Means we may have a new vertical view mode (height on Y axis) in the Wx gauge in few month!

Again some homework on the bench   :Tounge:

Thanks to HiFi

That's great news Roland! Really happy to hear that HiFi listened to your call.

I'm sure you will come op with something special.

I'd like to place the weather radar into the Duke v2, on the 2nd GPS 530.

In the A2A C172 over the 2nd GPS 530

And into the Carenado PC-12, over the Carenado weather radar gauge, not over one of the GPS gauges. Can someone help me adjust the numbers to fit inside the screens of each airplane? I don't know where to start.

Thank you Roland for this wonderful gauge

Hi,

Turbine Duke V2 use case is presented here I think :

Sorry I have the regular Duke, but w/o RealityXP.

However, principle is quite simple.To replace for example the Carenado Wx Radar gauge:

- open the panel.cfg

- search the Wx radar declaration line in some [VCockpitxx] section,

- comment it out with //

- insert below a declaration for my gauge while keeping the original position and size for a first try

- Launch the sim, power up the gauge and check if position and size are correct, based on the range arcs display

- modify them if necessary

Thanks I will try that. For now am flying the Carenado PC-12

I would like to overlay the wx gauge inside Carenado's Avidyne gauge window rather than comment out the gauge. Can you help?

I think this is the panel section

Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=0
pixel_size=512,512
texture=$Panel_4

gauge00=EX500_PC12!EX500_config,       0,  0,   1,  1
gauge01=EX500_PC12!EX500_3D,           0,  0, 513,409
gauge02=EX500_PC12!EX500_Update,       0,  0,   1,  1
gauge03=PC12CAR!ToggleCARG500,         0,  0, 513, 32

Well, this entry is a dead give-away as a VC entry:

texture=$Panel_4

Is this device functional in the PC-12?

Is it a [VCockpit] section?

yes the device is functional, But I always turn it off, so is it possible to display the weather radar over the black screen of the gauge?

[Vcockpit04]

Background_color=0,0,0

size_mm=512,512

visible=0

pixel_size=512,512

texture=$Panel_4

gauge00=EX500_PC12!EX500_config,       0,  0,   1,  1

gauge01=EX500_PC12!EX500_3D,           0,  0, 513,409

gauge02=EX500_PC12!EX500_Update,       0,  0,   1,  1

gauge03=PC12CAR!ToggleCARG500,         0,  0, 513, 32

Ok, so you have to find which line(s) is (are) linked to the Avidyne device.

I suggest to comment out the 3 lines with 'EX500', and add the Wx radar line as:

//gauge00=EX500_PC12!EX500_config,       0,  0,   1,  1

gauge00=RolAsnRadar!oRadGauge, 0,  0, 513,409, sweep|beam|ice|starton
//gauge01=EX500_PC12!EX500_3D,           0,  0, 513,409
//gauge02=EX500_PC12!EX500_Update,       0,  0,   1,  1

gauge03=PC12CAR!ToggleCARG500,         0,  0, 513, 32

Check if nothing else is disabled in your original cockpit, check if the Avidyne is definitly Off.

Verify the Wx radar is working - i.e. you should see at least:  range arcs, blue labels, and beam animation.

Then you may need to adjust coordinate and size 0,  0, 513,409 to fill perfectly the Avidyne glass area.

Once everything is fine, remove |starton from declaration and search for the 4 clic spots locations as they may move depending on the aircraft cockpit design.

Tips you can modify the panel.cfg without need to quit Fsx/P3d: you just have to reload the aircraft after modification/save :smile:

Anybody have this working to replace Carenado's Wx radar in their Navajo or PA46?  Like to get rid of Carenado's as it crashes my sim sometimes.  It appears to be functioning...I just can't see it in the VC....

Advanced Weather Interface Enabled
ASN active function link set
Ready for ASN WX radar

Hi Gregg,

I've just finished buidling up a decent rig and reinstalled the PA46 350. I'll try integrating the radar next week, and let you know. I'm sure we'll make it work
