Another radar gauge for VC & Window usage

Recommended Posts

milviz b55 using the rxp430 gauge option:

[Vcockpit04]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=0
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$C310_VC_04

//gauge01=rxpGNS!GNS530,  0,8,512,384
gauge01=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge, 0,8,512,384, sweep|beam|icing

for night panel, turn on the vc flood light.  also, to prevent the flood light from flooding the entire cockpit (not just the panel), rename the texture files "T_*CLightingMap.dds" with a "z" prefix, "zT_*CLightingMap.dds" to disable them EXCEPT "T_4CLightingMap.dds"  and "T_3CLightingMap.dds"

the bendix wx radar works fine, buttons work.

"Are you able to adjust radar settings with the mouse wheel? Or you can't and for that reason you always add "starton" option?"

Seems all mouse functions work ok. I just like the starton option so it is ready to go when I enter the vc.

another wx gauge placement option, instead of looking down where the avidyne is located, it's placed on the lower gnd530 display:

da pa31, wxr with bezel.  proper light map so looks good at night as well.

pa31_wxr.jpg

//gauge71=DA.PA31Avionics!WXR,868,1698,544,350
gauge71=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge, 868,1698,544,350, sweep|beam|icing

do for all 4 variants.  gauge # will vary so keep that in mind.

this is for the tduke v1.2, i'm sure something similar can be done with the new v2.0.

tdwx2.jpg

1) using rxp gns530 here, don't have the unlimited pkg so need to find a way to display the 2nd gns530 bezel:

    in the panel/config/Options.xml file, look for the line containing "if{ xxxx (>L:dukeRadioConfig,number)"

    where xxxx is a number, change to "if{ 80 (>L:dukeRadioConfig,number)"

this will place two gns530 bezels in the VC.

2) in panel.cfg, gauges 19 and 20 should be

gauge19=rxpGNS!GNS530, 1, 660, 504, 364
gauge20=RolASNRadar!ORadGauge, 612, 705, 295, 200,   sweep|beam|icing|nogps

3) the wx radar softkeys on the screen only work for the on/off and gain settings.  elevation and range softkeys don't work for some reason (not due to reflection on the gauge).  thus, a 2d pop-up gauge of the wx radar is needed to adjust the elevation/range settings.  add to the panel.cfg

[Window Titles]

//Window02=Reality XP GNS 430 WAAS - RXP_CONFIG_TOOL - DO NOT CHANGE
Window03=Startup Message
Window01=Reality XP GNS 530 WAAS - RXP_CONFIG_TOOL - DO NOT CHANGE
Window06=Reality XP DropStack
Window02=WXR

[Window02]
size_mm=100,150
position=2
visible=1
Window_pos=0.05,0.65
zorder=4
background_color=16,16,16
gauge00=RolasnRadar!oRadGauge, 0,0,100,150, sweep|beam|icing|nogps

as shown in picture above the pop up may look odd but the soft keys work for the main panel.

if the pop up gauge is annoying, alternative is to shrink the wx display

gauge20=RolASNRadar!ORadGauge, 607, 760, 305, 150,   sweep|beam|icing|nogps

this allows all 4 click spots to work and can get rid of the 2d pop up.

The v10 DLL seems to be causing my P3D v3.2 to die with a "fatal error". Is anyone else experiencing this? Any ideas what I've done wrong here? I used 7-Zip to extract it an install it into my gauges folder. I'm trying to use the ShellRadGauge, I copied the syntax from the included PDF:

gauge00=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge, 0,0,,, sweep|bean|icing|nogps

And placed it into my panel.cfg. I've done other custom gauges, even written some _simple_ ones of my own, so it's not a new thing for me.

Thanks!

The gauge is working correctly with v3.2.

You should fix your declaration: "beam" instead of "bean" ;)

Then if it does not work, first try the ShellRadGauge as a popup under its own [WindowXX] section

Add me to the list of folks who want to thank you, Roland, for your great work on this VERY COOL gauge set!  Just when I thought ASN couldn't get any better.

Heck, it's so good that I had to come out of hiding and make my first post here at AVSIM in years and years.  My old account had expired and i had to re-register and wait a day or so just to post this!

So yeah, this is groovy, awesome, righteous and totally gnarly.  It's the bee's knees baby.  Also, getting it set up and working couldn't be much simpler!

It also classes up the cockpit of the RealAir Simulations Lancair Legacy V2 quite nicely if you have the Flight1 GTN750 dual GPS' installed.  Like the Turbine Duke, this weather gauge works great in place of the second GPS panel.  We now have pretty much the ultimate single-engine all-weather interceptor and all 'round wicked-cool plane.

RolASN_Gauge_RAS_LegacyV2_zpsio1cxfgr.jp

Changes to panel.cfg  - I used the "starton" option since the GTN750's come on automatically when the avionics bus is powered up, so the two panels come up in synch, more or less.

Hello.

I'm trying to add this great gauge to the QW Avro RJ in VC cockpit (instead of blank weather radar texture)

I can add gauge, it works but there's only 1 problem.

I can't get to use buttons of weather radar! Like if they are blank.

Radar works when setting in RJ_HD.cfg |starton option.

|nogps - there's no matter, with or without it it's not working.

Here is my cfg file:

[Vcockpit02]
file=$vc_02.bmp
file_1024=$vc_02.bmp
Background_color=1,1,1
size_mm=1024,1024
visible=1
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$vc_02

gauge36=QWings146!QW146_VC_WXR_Enable, 0,0,0,0 ---> This enter is a MUST! Without it, plane doesn't replace blank texture.
gauge37=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge, 442,482,395,327, sweep|beam|icing|starton

Is there a possible fix? Thanks!

PS: Really nice addon - for the planes with bad wxr (or without it) :P

EDIT: Temporary fix - set shortcut keys for GPS pages/zooms etc in controls setup.

Hi,

On ShellRadGauge, the buttons representation are not animated (ie: you can't see moving) but using the mouse wheel over them is supposed to drive radar parameters.

If you confirm the Shell buttons are not working, you may try to implement the simple glass gauge and see if you can drive radar parameters using mouse wheel over special click spots (when you see mouse pointer change).

To do this, replace gauge37=RolasnRadar!ShellRadGauge,

by  gauge37=RolasnRadar!oRadGauge,

You will probably need to adjust size & position values.

Hi!

Thank you for this nice gauge. I just tried it for the first time today in the Carenado Cessna 337H. At first of course as a popup, because I don't want to lose the NAV1 built into the GPS unit. But then I thought: Hey, I never use the EDM-760 Engine Data Management system (the bar chart thingy with the digital EGT values), what would the weather radar look in it? So I tried it:

uBf0NOa.jpg

This is the gauge line in panel.cfg (and the original line it replaces):

//gauge05=CCTTS!GEM6,  297,0,214,211
gauge05=RolasnRadar!ORadGauge,  330,31,144,131, sweep|beam|icing

Yes, it is a bit small, but it works fine :smile:
