RAZBAM METROLINER Engine failure on Takeoff

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I recently purchased the Razbam Metroliner, and I am currently experiencing an issue with the engines on takeoff.

When I advance to full throtle, the engines produce power for about 5 seconds and then quit. I looked in the FSX failure options page, and it both checkboxes for "Complete engine failure" were selected. When I deselect this option and start the engines again, the same thing happens.

I have read the documentation and numorus tutorial videos; but to no avail.

Happy New Year

Overtemp or overtorque. Yes, it's modeled.

Solution: Don't be a d+ck to the engines.

(Yes, the missing letter is "u". Everyone knows that ducks are too dumb to handle turboprops.)

What he said(lol). Never push turboprop engines to the max suddenly (unless its a default aircraft). You'll usually get problems! The same thing goes for similar planes such as B-377, Constellation, J-41, etc.

Haha!

For each takeoff, I do slowly advance the throtles. Should I cut back on rpm or what?

FYI... Overheating may be an issue because I mainly fly in hotter regions (SXM for example) but how can I avoid this?

Thanks for your quick replies.

I had a flight instructor once who admitted to blowing up a Metro engine on T/O in his younger days... He hasn't heard the end of it yet.... :P

Hotter regions might be contributing to the issue (hot weather makes it easier to be a duck? :-) )? I've only blown up one engine on take off and it was at TJSJ. Doesn't seem to be as much of an issue in the colder climates I typically fly it in, Denver, Manitoba, northern Ontario. ..

Another thing is to review the load sheet the Metro by default is loaded down heavy which is going to require a lot more power.  Lighten the cargo and fuel load if you can.  Trying to take off fully loaded in hot weather and it'll wallow like a duck with butt full of buckshot.
