HLJAMES

Had some time for another flight with you-know-who - VP-CAL.

Today, our plane had a short but beautiful mission to accomplish - a flight from Athens (LGAV) to Thessaloniki (LGTS).

Athens is the largest airport in Greece, catering to over ten million passengers annually. Numerous airlines from Greece, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and even North America fly to this hot vacation spot. I purchased this airport from FlyTampa this afternoon as my one year anniversary of my visit to Athens will be in two weeks!

Thessaloniki is a huge vacation destination, its passenger numbers certainly reflect that. Around 5,000,000 people visit this airport annually. Most traffic to here is either domestic or from Europe. The airport in this case is the "Greek Airports Project" Thessaloniki that can be found in the AVSIM library. It's quite stunning for freeware.

I absolutely love the FlyTampa Athens rendition - even though it is four years old. It's fantastic and brings me back to last Spring.

Here is a shot of my new private jet departing the gate (aka the cargo terminal):

Onwards, I actually took off from the wrong runway, so that threw me off. I did manage to make it back on course, and I got this beauty when I was between islands:

Finally, down on the ground in Thessaloniki, parked quite miserably. I do like this airport, however:

Thanks for checking these out, I hope to have more soon!

EIA6367(AYPY-VHHH) cranks 'em up at Jacksons International for a run to Hong Kong

Speculator shots Chris!  I made the move to the dark side last Friday.....loving P3d.  Still on the fence if I'll get the 777 for it.  The Airbus is getting flown all over the place. Hehe.

The visuals and smoothness are quite amazing, and I see what all the hype is about...and for my experience, very warranted.

In this post I show the shadows in the 'pit and how it is also in the engine intakes on the fan blades....just like the Immersion package, the addition of these shadows moving across both the exterior and interior transform the sim.

http://forum.avsim.net/topic/462997-why-all-this-doom-and-gloom-with-2/?p=3185058

Add to the fact the smoothness and other visual items (like cloud shadows on the ground and when you pass under them in your aircraft), put the experience over the top.

Finding it really hard to resist the 777 in P3d.  :Silly:

The clock is ticking Steve (for the discounted price that is )  I guess you can call me an old dinosaur still flying with FSX!  I've seen the shadows with P3D and they do look incredible.  With all your simulators now, sounds like you need a co-pilot to help out B)  It's not a matter of if, but when for me switching to a new platform.  I've had FSX tweaked just the way I like it for quite awhile now, so I'm happy to keep racking up the hours in the meantime while reading up on posts with FSX:SE, P3D and XPlane

I know....just don't "need" to get the 777 just yet, and like I mentioned, having a blast with the Bus at the moment.  Hope Aerosoft  puts the 330 on the fast track, and of course includes the freighter version (we know the 1st paint I'll apply to her)

Trust me you'll know when I get the 777 for P3d...I'll make sure to post pics that leave no doubt its P3d.  :Big Grin:

I think your last set of pics are some of your finest.  Subject notwithstanding, the angles and backgrounds are great...love the triple approach shot, and the SIA 744 taking off as you touched down.

Why thank ya Steve!  I believe the SIA 744 had a missed approach and was going around.  Nonetheless Hong Kong was busy, busy (but they always make room for me  )  Speaking of simulators, I heard you're buying Xplane next week and the Aerowinx simulator in April B)   A man can never have too many toys now!
