Navigraph - Where to add my new AIRAC?

Recommended Posts

So I just bought a few credits from Navigraph to update my FMS after reading some old threads here about where to get the updates.

I have setup the Navigraph FMS Data Manager. FMS Data Manager did not find the J41 in the scan so I am adding it manually via the "Addons Mapping" /"+Add"

My FSX location is correct in the settings, My PMDG folder is selected...? guess that's right.

Do I place it:

G:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\Navdata

And how do I check the FMS to make sure is is now updated?

Thanks!

The Navigraph Manager works fine with the JS4100. You need to select "PMDG (all products)".

When you fire up the FMS, the first screen upon initialization should list the cycle date.

Ok - When I open my FMC on the initialization page I see along the bottom (I guess this is where you find the dates):

179600709  SM02

Is that correct?

Here are some screen shots of the file structure:

Thanks guys.

I can't open the JS41 because I've got a B777 flight enroute; however, you can also check your installed cycle date by looking into ...PMDG\NavData\cycle_info.txt.

The Navigraph FMS Data Manager knows where to put the files. You can check the addon mappings (button upper right) to make sure it has the correct path to your FSX.  That's all it needs to know, the navdata files are always in navdata and sidstar directories.

Keep it simple, there's nothing complicated about this.

Hi. I had the same problem. The manager program couldn't locate the js41 although it did find captain sim 757. To work round this I purchased the manual download for pmdg products and it installed ok. It even backed up the original file. Just don't use the manager.

If a program is unable to find the JS41, try running the registry repair tool free from Flight1.

I juat bought it today (in may) and I have the same numbers on FMC so startup, so either I messed it up too, or that a serial number or something else (179600709  SM02).  The data manager couldn't find my J41 either, and even the installer in the zip couldn't find it.  I had to manually move the folders after they were installed in the wrong place.

I THINK i got it, but I dont know as there appears to be no way to display on the FMC that displays which airac cycle the FMC is using.

Slightly annoying i will say...

Details- Instead of putting the navdata and sidstars folders in FSX-->PMDG, it creates ANOTHER folder with in the PMDG folder called PMDG which when opened, has the actual navdata and sidstars folder that have the data.  Folderception!!

Fairly easy fix, but I do wish the J41 FMC would display the airac cyle its using somewhere.

When you are setting up the Navigraph data manager for updating PMDG aircraft, you only have to point the installer at your FSX root directory - I.e. the main folder where FSX itself is installed. If you do this, the files will automatically be installed in the FSX\PMDG\Navdata folder that already exists. If you point the installer at the PMDG folder instead, it will "bury" the files two layers too deep - you will end up with the folder structure: FSX\PMDG\Navdata\PMDG\Navdata which won't work.

You do NOT have to install AIRAC updates for PMDG on a per-aircraft basis. All PMDG products, the 747 V1, MD-11, 737NGX, 777 and JS-4100 share the same common nav database. If you update one, you update them all.

This is what happened.  You said it much more better than I done said it.  It was my fault I should have trusted the program lol.

you should just buy a year subscription, its dirt cheap for what you get, most planes will find the correct path for you, even with x-plane, very few have to manually be set to the correct location, efb being one of them.
