Wait for Dedicated Turbine Duke V2 Installer?

Recommended Posts

Just bought and setting up FSX:SE. Is this release Steam-ready or should I wait for a dedicated installer? That goes for the P-DukeV2 as well, which I already have. I know they work in SE but I'd like to do things according to realairs recommendations.

If you ONLY have FSX_SE and not also FSX_MS you shouldn't have difficulties installing. Just point the installer to where your Steam\apps\FSX is located. If you have both sims then things are quite complicated. There is a thread about this here on Avsim FSX forum. We don't officially support FSX-SE at the moment.

Ok thx for making that clear Rob. FSX_MS is long gone on my system, FSX_SE just arrived today  B) I think I'll install my P-Duke V2 then and see how that goes.

I have both boxed and SE version installed with the Turbine Duke V2 installed in both with no problem. Just point the installer to the folder of the steam version and you should be good

I do also have both boxed and SE version installed and the Turbine Duke V2 flies great in FSX_SE.

Yet the configuration panel does not work.

Since it was never made clear (in this thread...it may be somewhere in the other 5000 page thread!), will the config app work correctly if Steam is the ONLY version of FSX installed?  I have P3D and FSX-SE and I'm debating on which version to purchase (eventually), but I'd like to know if the SE version is 100% (unofficially) working right now, including the config app, for a solo SE installation.

Yes - if SE is a standalone, with no FSX on the same computer, the V2 T-Duke config program works with no problems.

Thank you! Now I just have to debate purchasing the SE version now or waiting for the P3D version. Or both. Plus which GTN 750 to buy...or both. My bank account hurts.

Hi Y2K,

May I ask you please to confirm that you found the config app options worked and were clearly seen as working in the sim? Thank you and I apologise for asking.

Just checking back in to report that everything is working perfectly in a stand-alone SE installation, including all config panel settings (as reported earlier...thank you!). Combining this plane with the GTN is an almost perfect experience.

Where is said thread?

I do not know where the thread is now. It was quite a long time ago. Allow me to clarify. What I meant by not supporting FSX-SE is that we support the product of course, but where for example users have dual FSX-MS and FSX-SE sims running on the same O/S we cannot support installation problems because, as is now well known (there have been endless threads in the past) a dual install throws up windows registry problems.

See above posts for confirmation that if you point installers to the right place everything will work.

You do not need a "dedicated" installer. Just point the installer to the place where you FSX MAIN folder is located.
