Getting ready to purchase the 747-400X

Recommended Posts

I own the PMDG 747-400 for FS9 and recently bought a new computer which can run FSX and will be buying the PMDG 747-400X,

Is there any discount for the upgrade?

Doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks,

Do you realize a new version is likely coming in the first half of this year?  I don't think I'd get the old one at this point.  The systems and performance just don't stand up to "modern" addons.

The 777 is absolutely wonderful, on the other hand.  Probably the best aircraft released for FSX to this date.

One was offered right around the release date, but that was it.

As William mentioned, if you can hold off for a little while, there is a Version 2 of the wonderful 744 that will be similar to the 777 and NGX in quality. I'd recommend getting (one of) those two, first, and then the 744 when it comes out. As it stands now, since v2 is a complete, ground-up remake, I'm not sure there will be promotional pricing on it, but that's up to RSR when it comes out (I don't think there was any promotion for the NGX, since that's technically a v2 as well).

The 747 is fantastic.. Althoug because of the recent build of 777 and I love the automation on 777, I still think I'd like the new version of the 747 better.

Well, I loved the FS9 version of the 400.

I wonder if there will be a sharp learning curve!

Same plane, so you should be relatively fine, learning-wise.

I read on the Steam forum that the 747-400X was working with SE and thought I could get my PMDG fix as soon as this weekend! Well, it makes no sense to buy old technology, so I will sit tight.

Glad I sat tight!!

Bought the T7 Saturday and had a couple of great flights. What an awesome aircraft!

Thanks guys for the good advice!

The textures are nice, but systems are as basic as with the almost 6 year old PMDG 747.

I am very interested in getting the new 747 updated version due for release and want to know if I buy the current version would I then get a special price on the new version?

Not a big deal as I plan to buy it anyway. If there was a deal I would then most likely buy the current version now and then buy the new one on release.

If there will be no deal I might just get the 777 now and get the new 747 when it arrives.

Again, not a big deal because my plan is to finally own a top tier PMDG airliner soon.

Based on the post about PMDG news for 2015 the v2 looks rather promising
