Installation issues

Recommended Posts

Hello All

Fresh FSX installation.

Trying to install LINDA

Extracting the zip as instructed

Get Folder LINDA 2.5.7  Release to the FSX Module

Under this I get Folder FSX

Under this I get Modules

                         Sound

Now, my question is what should I have under the module rout directory in terms of files and folders  ???

Thanks in advance

Yair

Hi Yair

The 2 unzipped folders (modules and sound) should be copied into your main flight sim folder wherever you have it installed. You should accept all overwrites but there should be none if this is your first install of LINDA.

Ideally, your flight sim (FSX or Prepar3d) should be in its own root directory (eg c:/FSX/) and not in the default one. This removes any Windows admin privilege issues caused when running your sim.

Hello Scott and thanks for your help

I dedicated SSD for FSX.

Now, I have the zip file in my FSX/ Modules, unzipping it create folder by the name of

under this folder I find

  • Linda 2.5.7 release notes PDF
  • Linda 2.5.7 Release (Folder)
  • PMDG737GX 3.2 (Folder)
  • Linda (Folder)
  • Aerosoft Airbus 4.3 (Folded)

Under  Linda 2.5.7 Release (folder) I find

                                                          FSX

                                                                  Modules

                                                                  Sound

Under Linda (Folder) I find

                   Aircraft

                   Data

                   libs

                   lua

                  system

I stop clicking here  cuz I got lost

Hi Yair

I will try to guide as simply as I can.

On your SSD, locate the folder you have FSX installed in using Windows Explorer. Keep this folder open and visible.

Open a new Windows Explorer window and locate your LINDA 2.5.7 ZIP file. Find the folder FSX (inside Linda 2.5.7 release) and open it.  There are the 2 folders you listed: /Modules and /Sound.

Copy both folders (/Modules and /Sound) and paste in the SSD FSX folder.  Click the overwrite checkboxes and answer YES to all overwrites (if any). There are a large number of files in the installation so it is essential that you tick the Overwrite boxes.

You should now have LINDA correctly installed.  The download you are using will also install the Aerosoft Airbus and PDMG 737NGX aircraft modules.  You can check by looking inside the /FSX/Modules folder for the following:

/LINDA

/LINDA-CFG

LINDA.EXE

IPCREADY.LUA

LINDA.LUA

You will also need install a full, paid version of the latest FSUIPC4 for LINDA to work correctly.

Hi Yair

I am pleased you have a working setup. For question A which aircraft are you trying to set up?

As far as B is concerned, LINDA recognises all devices which appear in Windows as Human Interface Devices (HID) with Buttons. You can program these with any function you require. Apart from the VRImsight Combo MCP panels and the Saitek Switch Panel, LINDA can not output to panel displays.

... currently, just the default 172 which with the previous LINDA version which Ihad few years ago, I could find the assignments for the left/right tanks selector

&

This thing with GoFlight, well, remember that LINDA did not recognized those modules before, I think I even posted question about it and the response was nope, LINDA doesn't recognize GF, so this is a pleasant surprise, I will try to set those modules over the weekend and we will see how they response .

The other think, I remember I loaded a file for the Carenado Malibu Mirage, any idea were to find it ???

Many thanks for your attention and support, it is highly appreciated

Have a wonderful Sim weekend ahead

I'll be out on a real C172SP  short flight KSNA to KCRQ .. no need to configure LINDA for that  .... lol

Hi N1125Y

Thanks for your comments. I doubt if I will be flying this weekend as I have proper work to do and I am still working on the next update.

Let me know how you get on with your GoFlight panels. In particular, I would be interested in knowing the VID and PID numbers for your panels (see other pinned posts on how to do this).

I'm afraid I don't know where to the Carenado Malibu Mirage (it sounds like a cocktail).

Good flying.

Good morning N1125Y

You can read all about VIDs and PIDs here.

There is no dedicated aircraft module for the C172 as everything is covered by the standard FSX functions. I think you are looking for FUEL_SELECTOR_LEFT, _RIGHT and _ALL under Set FSX Controls.
