it is advised to check DX10 preview mode in FSX before purchase. What one should see and how to estimate it's working fine?

If you can launch a flight and it essentially looks ok then it is ok. (i.e the DX10 Preview option is shown and works, there is no black screen, no crash)

 

The test is to prevent people who have one of

 

a) Windows XP so no DX10 and hence no DX10 Preview option

B) Multiple GPUs so FSX doesn't run DX10

c) Incompatible addons that crash DX10

 

from buying it - at least until they have solved their problem and also so that people with multiple monitors can check for issues.
