Zinertek HD Airport Graphics Update

Recommended Posts

But in the case that someone doesn't like the product, I hope that during installation default FSX textures are backed up, so you can easily get back to default if you wish?

Look in FSX main folder, and then "HD Airport Graphics" folder, and run the uninstall... Everything gos back to original.

I understand some may have some hard core principles, but I found the Zinertek HD Airports a    V A S T   improvement, and don't feel duped by the title in any way.  AND, they came in here and explained the product, and now are offering another update. I can count on one hand that kind of customer service from others.

Thank You Zinertek, your product and service is amazing.

If I own REX4, is it worthwhile buying this?  As REX provides a lot of the same textures.

Rex deals with some ground textures, but no buildings IIRC. If you have rex (#), and use the Zin product, it will overwrite whatever Rex taxi/runway texture you have. If you prefer the Rex ones over the Zin package, and just want the Zin buildings, simply re-install the rex theme after installing the Zin airports. The Zin ones are really good however, and I'm keeping those over the Rex ones.

Exactly! REX deals with pretty much all textures except buildings so Zinertek HD Airports is a nice compliment to REX4. As mentioned above, just re-install your REX4 runway textures after installing Zinertek HD Airports if you're not happy with the latters runway textures.

For me personally though, I'm not too bothered about textures or their resolution of airports but rather correct geometrics and layouts of buildings, objects, taxiways and runways so unfortunately Zinertek HD Airports don't do much for me. For me correct depiction of airports are more important than aesthetics. I guess that's where FTX "freeware" airports does a better job for me.

Yes, there is an option to uninstall our product and restore the default FSX/P3D airport textures

Wow, I am impressed! A developer that responded to a public forum and is going to address the concerns of its users, that is very impressive. You have renewed my faith in this product and I am looking forward to future developments. Thanks, Maurice for caring.

No problem Ric. We do care about our customers and in this case we want to make it right.

We admit that we held back on the resolution of some textures due to performance and VAS concerns. However, since some of our customers are requesting higher-res textures for the terminals we are going to deliver that.

Our team is working on version 3.0 but we feel that giving our customers the original textures in higher resolution is not enough. If we are going to deliver higher resolution we may as well bring more detail as well. This is why we are reworking the airport terminals.

This is not the final version mind you, but this is a sample of how you can expect your default airports to look like in version 3.0:

If everything goes well, we hope to release Version 3.0 by the end of this week.

Awesome! Thank you for reply on my e-mail and a very professional and detailed explanation, and especially for making higher resolution textures for a new installer as I suggested. That's what I call a customer service!

Cheers

I very much appreciate the developer of this product, very intimate with the community on this forum and seems to be a nice person, I'll buy the product next time I get paid. Thanks for all the help.

Mike

Hi Mike,

The update is progressing well...it has taken us a bit longer than we expected because we are reworking the main terminals from scratch.

We hope to release version 3.0 sometime this week for sure.

I'll post an update here once this new version is officially released.

As for FPS performance, we managed to increase the resolution of the terminals while keeping the file size as low as possible. So there shouldn't be any performance issues with the new textures.

I purchased a airport replacement texture set a year or two ago, and I was mostly impressed - except for one particular texture... of what looked to be a DHL "garage door."  (Using their bold colors of course.)

On some of my freeware sceneries I would have dozens of those doors side by side which all told, really looked odd.

Is there any such "startlingly repeatable texture" in this set??  If not, I think I'll spring for it.

Looking forward to 3.0 - just downloaded 2.0 and its quite a bit smaller than the original 1.0 version 115,648 vs 142,999 why would this be also did you address the wet runways reflection way over done other than that a super product - thank you

You won't see any logos on garage doors or hangar logos anymore :)

As for the repeatable doors, we have definitely reduced them.

Yeah, the installer for Version 2.0 is a bit smaller in terms of file size in comparison to version 1.0. This is because as part of the performance improvement, we managed to reduce the overall file size of the textures while keeping their same resolution as the first version.

Now we are upping the resolution of the textures in Version 3.0  while trying to keep the file size as low as possible.

As for the wet runway effect, our product does not modify or alter it in any way. The wet effect is the same that you have always had.

Maybe the wet effect looks different to you now because the reflection is applied on different textures than you were accustomed to.

You can see this by temporarily uninstalling our product. If you restore the default airport textures you will see that the wet effect remains the same.

The uninstall program that restores the default airport textures is found in your main  FSX\HD Airport Graphics  folder in case you want to try this.
