cannot connect to x-plane

Recommended Posts

I tried to test it with 15 days trial, but never get it connected to x-plane 10.30/32 64. Tried to remove all plugins, tried on default scenery, in EU, US no difference. Just when i press connect noting happens just stays grey and when I hit test it says not connected to sim. I have 3 days more and I realy want to at least try it. XUIPC works and have no problems with other addons like efass.

Can you send me a screenshot of Pilot2ATC after you press the Connect button.  I might be able to tell something from that.

Also, I had one other user say they had to stop EFASS in order to get Pilot2ATC to work.  I don't know why that would be the case, but you might try that as well.

Send the screenshot to admin@pilot2atc.com.

Thanks,

Dave

Yes, I saw his topic, but thats not my case, it is not connecting whatever i try or stop, when I press connect it is trying something, i mean there is some activity but noting happens, the button remains grey and become inactive, i can't press it second time, have to restart the app. Tried to reinstall xuipc, never try to reinstall x-plane but I dont thing this will make any differece. x-plane is working fine and stable. I will send you screenshot later when I get home.

I agree it is likely not anything to do with X-Plane.  The screenshot might tell me something.

Another thing to try that has worked for a few users is to start Pilot2ATC as PC administrator.  Some security setups try and prevent it from communicating with other programs.

To Run it as admin, locate the Pilot2ATC.exe file in Windows Explorer and Right-click.  In the resulting menu, select the Run as Administrator option.

Thanks,

Dave

I couldn't resolve the issue before the end of trial :(

I can give you an extension of the trial.  Run the program and on the license screen, you should see a Hardware ID.  Copy and paste that into an email or send a screenshot of the registration screen and I should be able to reset the trial.

That error indicates that you might have an outdated version of Pilot2ATC installed.  After we get the trial working again, you will need to download the latest update 1.4.0.10 and install it over your installation.  But let's get the HardwareID and new trial squared away first.

I still have 2 day or something like that, this is someone else that expired, my version is 1.4.0.1, this is what it says when i start the program, it looks like this file pilotgrammar.x.... is missing from my system for some reason, can you send me this file to try or will I mess my trial if I reinstall it ?

Metzger,

Download the "Update" from the download site.  (Scroll down to the 4th button on the screen)

http://pilot2atc.com/pilot2atc/Download

That's the latest update, 1.4.0.10. That should work for you.  Just unzip and install over what you have.  Do not uninstall anything.  That would mess things up.

And the offer to extend the trial is good for you too.

Thanks

Dave

Dave, you are most generous. I did re-install windows this weekend and it did allow me to start another 15 days trial. I am happy to report that it does work well with the latest XPUIPC. I had no trouble with EFASS and Pilot2APC running simultaneously. I am fighting with the TTS but I guess this is window's fault as I am not a native english speaker. I did manage to get one takeoff done after a few retries.

I have a few questions :

Do you get your SID/STARS information using Xplane or you have your own AIRAC file ?

I did a plan using simbrief and import it into Pilot2ATC but using that method, I didn't have any of the frequency. When I tried to enter SID/STARS manually, it didn't not accept any of the entries. (I am using (AIRAC 1501).

If I could make a suggestion, that bottom window that gives you the transcript should be detachable so I can have only have that in the right corner when I fly. That way, I wouldn't have to constantly look at my 2nd screen. The whole window is just a little too big.

Glad you were able to get the trial working

In the current release of the program, the SID/STAR data is relying on the import of a PLN or FMS flight plan and using the SIM data (not updated by AIRAC) to look for the waypoints.  If a fix is not found, a new one is created using the data from the Flight Plan for Identifier and Position.  Frequency would be set to 0 in this case as the Flight Plan does not contain the Frequency.

I am currently working on version 2.0 which will have Aerosoft and/or Navigraph  AIRAC info for Fixes, SIDs, STARs and Approaches and will let you build the flight plans by just choosing the appropriate procedures.  Frequencies and other information should then be available for all the fixes as the information will be from the same source.

Thanks for the suggestion on the UI.  The next version will also have a totally new UI, and I will see what I can do about separating the speech pane.

On the TTS, there are some suggestions here in the forum that have worked for others.  Getting the Initial Wait Time and End Wait Times set correctly and speaking in a normal tone, volume and pace seem to be the most helpful in getting a better recognition rate.

Thanks,

Dave

That's sounds pretty good. I did notice that your software required an exact recognition for Windows TTS. It didn't allow for small variable. This is particularly true during IFR clearance readback. I often had to repeat multiples times because windows didn't recognize 1 word or added an extra word.  This might a lot more complicated for you to find a algorithm that would required some leniency while doing long read back. I am sure that If I was a real pilot, the ATC would have perfectly understood my read back.

I will spend more time with the software. If you want I can make a video of my experience and you can see for yourself.

Yes, I am aware of the difficulty of getting a long read back correct.  It does get better with practice, though.

In the longer run, I hope to make it so you can be advised of any specific error and  then only have to repeat that part of the clearance, which would be more realistic.  In the mean time, to avoid frustration, the program allows you to switch frequencies to Ground and request Pushback, Taxi, etc. even if you don't get the read back correct.

In most situations, if you are having trouble being recognized for a specific readback or request, you can usually just move on to the next activity/controller.  For example, if you don't get a frequency change to tower as you approach the departure runway, just switch to tower frequency and tell them you're ready for takeoff.  If you don't get the handoff from tower to departure control, just change frequencies to departure control and do your initial call-in.  All will continue normally from there on.

Hope this helps.

Dave
