Which DVD to try first?

Recommended Posts

Having just bought a DVD player I'd appreciate recommendations as to which are the most outstanding flight DVD's before spending my hard earned money.

HiTry www.itvv.co.uk for some really well done cockpit DVD's. They havn't produced anything new for a while now, but the Concorde DVD pair are really worth the effort on there own. Unlike others, the ITVV videos focus on procedures and use good digital video equipment and a solid mounting to get a good steady view of the panel plus the flight crew spend quite a bit of time explaining what they are doing. Its not uncommon to have 4 cameras on the flight deck - really emersive.Well that was my impression after watching about 6 of them. Money well spent.

Check out the DVD info on the Dash 8, on the front page of AVSIM. Click on the link, it'll take you to a whole slew of videos. I've purchased from there myself, very satisfied with a great 737-300/ATR DVD I received.Alas, due to U.S. federal regulations, I think there are only two from the U.S., I don't think the feds allow this sort of thing in American cockpits anymore. A true shame!

Thanks so much to you and Mike for answering. As an ex South African, now living in Spain, I've found a series of S.A Airways flights that I'm looking forward to seeing.Your advice is appreciated.

I suggeste the IWT Leisure 767-300ER, and the World Air Routes UAL 777. Both good videos.

I second Fred's recomendation. I have both, JustPlanes and ITVV. If I had to purchase a video again, I would go for ITVV though.Bruno Francescoli Student Pilot-KOPF-PA28-161

I have to agree about the ITVV series... much much better than JustPlanes stuff.I cant tell you how frustrating it is to have the guy pan to the exterior side window right when they rotate up to about 5-6000 feet! Just when I want to see what is done and in what sequence all I get is the standard view that I have seen hundreds of times as a PAX.This aspect (amongst others) became so infuriating on the FlyBe DVD I actually cant bring myself to finish it.I guess I got spoiled, the first one I got was the Virgin 747 ITVV, then the Concorde set by the same - unmatched. That is a problem when you jump in at the top - nowhere else to go.
