How much would you pay for a PMDG 737 NGX upGRADE?

Featured Replies

I never said you were writing your own rules. I did say you were playing moderator on a forum which you are most certainly not a moderator. Hence my link. I said if you want to be a moderator, go make your own :).

I don't want to be a moderator. I've never wanted to be a moderator. But if someone breaks the rules we all signed up to then anyone can point that out.

Forum members can remind other members of the rules. A moderator can impose the rules. The two things aren't the same.

There's nothing wrong with this thread, Berni. Some people just like to pretend to be mods.

Regarding your initial question - since the weather radar will be included in a free update, together with some additional features and fixes, I'd agree on your list.

What I'd like to see would be:

- a correct cockpit geometry (low priority, though)

- additional FMS features.

- Split Scimitar winglets.

...and whatever PMDG decide to include once the 747V2 is out and they have some more experience with advanced features.

I'd also be willing to pay for this update...even half the price of the base package.

I would also like to see correct cockpit geometry and split scimitar winglets. Everything else is fine the way it is, just make the flight deck dimensions more realistic! Please!

I would pay for a heavily enhanced NGX similar to what's being done with 747. But that would be years away.

As for pseudo-moderators in general, maybe it stems from being a tattletale in elementary school.

Yeah but you don't have to point it out. So c'mon, you wanna be a moderator and you know it, even the way you wrote the its-not-permitted-post looks like a moderator, .It's probably the main reason you clicked on a thread with the words PMDG and prices in the title. But anyway, i'd say go for it, maybe you'd be an excellent moderator.

Wow, is it mating season again already?

Wannabe alpha males belittleing helpful posters for pointing out the rules. Kevin is completely right and the amount of people pointing out the rules is proportional to people breaking said rules. This is where all the grief originates. People who think they are above the rules and more or less exploiting the politeness of moderators and the fact there are barely enough of them to enforce the full names rule.

It is rather unnerving how often a thread is derailed like this because so much fuss about nothing. Obey the rules or get out. Simply put.

Edit:

Sorry for singling you out, Eric. But it is just a good example how people that tell others to mind their business and not play moderator are often those violating the rules.

Oh, and to add to the topic. I would not pay for such an update in any form. I'd rather wait for PMDG to invest time and money into the next product cycle and start clean sheet instead.

Well said. The guys at PMDG are too busy to be spending their days enforcing forum rules. They do it when they are online but they rely heavily on their users to help them. If they wanted more moderators, they would bring in another moderator but clearly they are happy with how everything goes as it is.

Ha ha, i had a couple of replies from Robert or Tabs themselves and they didn't mention the name thing which i have seen them doing with other people.

But you're right, it is not my full name, it never occured to me i was doing something wrong though, will correct this.

But still, personally i find wannabe moderaters much more annoying and disrupting than someone who doesn't sign his full name.

Wow, an interesting discussion quickly transformed by the dreaded derailathread-o-vision virus. That's a nasty one, and it crops up everywhere.

Good on you for signing your full name from now on.

Still, you play right into the hands of the people you find so disruptive with posts like these.

"Dummheit schützt vor Strafe nicht.", as a German proverb goes.

You registered in 2003 and probably spent enough time in this forum realm to know how it works. Especially since so many here go out of their way to spread awareness of the requirement to sign your posts. How come after so many years you still do not know what is kindly being asked of you? To me, it looks somewhat lame and convenient no matter if true or not. No offense.

This place is a private venue after all. If this was the real world those without names under their posts would not have gained access in the first place. Would have no privilege to share their opinion at all.  Not signing your name is kind of like being not on the guest list.

If I had anything to say, I would just ban everyone who does not consent with the rules and be done with it. There would be no more disruptions. Done. Or this forum could just do away with the full name requirement. Fine with me. But it will probably not happen anytime soon.

Feel free to hate me over this, but I mean no offense nor am I trying to lecture anyone.

Rant over.

Well, since the moment it has been required i have always signed my posts, just not with my full name, that's something else than not signing at all, but still my bad. I once made a signature and never gave it a second thought. As i said, iwasn't aware of any wrongdoing. But personally i still find wanna be moderators very annoying if i may say so.

Okay, well...I guess that's the last time I look at a thread and assume everyone is having a nice pleasant discussion of how much they'd personally pay for something.

Just caught up on all of this.

First, I have to say that I'm kinda surprised at who's involved in the scuffle here about something so trivial. To make things abundantly clear, I do actually appreciate it when people remind others of the rules here. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and it saves me from having to make the post myself. That isn't backseat moderating. It's being polite - if not for the person being reminded before potentially getting a reaction from a mod; then for me because I'm spared the typing and can move onto either other issues, or a more involved answer to someone else. That being said, I'm a little surprised at some of the names I see going at each other (more the ones doing the labeling), since some are ones who I see helping out by answering questions, if not mentioning the rules to people.

These people are not wannabe moderators. If someone points out you're in violation of the rules, suck it up, make the change and don't make yourself a target by lashing out at them. Unless their comment about your apparent lack of rule following is part of some ad hominem attack, I'm going to assume they're just trying to help you out, and me as a result.

Second, the discussion of the pricing policy is not allowed here. Pricing policy is related to how we've decided to set pricing on our available products. Since we aren't at the point where we've released an upgrade for the NGX that has a price attached to it, there is no pricing policy to discuss. This thread has remained open because I'd assumed that the discussion was just a bunch of hypothetical banter of personal preference. Part of the reason why we shut down pricing policy discussions is that it's usually a lot of passionate arguing about things that won't change simply because a couple in the forum disagree with it. Continuing to argue about this whole "wannabe mod" thing will get this one shut down too. Don't be the cause.
