ORBX freeware airports within PilotEdge territory

Recommended Posts

ORBX do around 200 or so freeware airports for North America - I like to install some of them to give me a bit more variety on PilotEdge. To save me googling them all one by one to find out where they are (I live in the UK, so most of the location indicators don't mean much to me), could anyone let me know which ones are in the California/Nevada areas.

To narrow it down quite a lot, I'm only interested in fields capable of being flown into by a 737-800, so say a minimum runway length of  5000ft/1600M or so, but don't mind if they're IFR or VFR fields.

Thanks

Eugene

Eugene,

We would have to do the same thing you are trying to avoid.

We would have to go through our Global Airports scenery and select the ones you want and then Google them, or load them, ourselves to see which ones meet your specifications.

To my knowledge there is no existing list breaking the airports down by region and giving us the specs for them, i.e. runway length.

Looks like you will have to do this yourself if you want them.

I certainly wouldn't spend all that time on something I neither need nor want for someone else.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Do you have to have ORBX Global installed for the freeware airports to work, or can they be installed as stand alone's.  I have all ORBX west coast USA installed which doesn't cover southern California as yet.

I'm adding to the thread for completeness.

For runway lengths, you can download a cvs file from ourairports.com, filter within a spreadsheet and save a new csv file, load the revised csv file into Google Earth, then review the overlap between the ourairport data and Orbx data.

So what happened to the list? I was wanting to install the latest freeware airport package from the ORBX website. Is there no longer a list of the airports included?
