NEW - LINDA 2.6.0 Beta 11 Release - Saitek Panels & Dynamic Devices

Recommended Posts

Hi Roland and all

Beta 8 uploaded to fix issues raised and add HotKeys functions.

The beta needs a very long time to start, after double click the window stays with "no response" in the title for ~90 seconds...
After that it finishes and runs fine.

This has been reported by other users and I have seen it once.  You should find that after the first run and set up, LINDA 2.6.0 Beta should run normally. What version of Windows are you using?

Just as an FYI, with this beta installed I get an instant CTD with ntdll.dll as the offending module. I removed LINDA beta and all was good again. Any suggestions?

Hi Glenn

Thank you for your report. Which version of Windows are you using?  Is it fully up-to-date. Do you get any error messages or logs?

Searching Google there is a suggestion you should check and update your device drivers.  Try the latest Beta 8 (this thread post #1).

Hi, Its Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. Fully updated

ntdll.dll ususally refers to GPU drivers but it seems funny that LINDA would trigger this?

I will update the GPU drivers and try beta 8 and let you know how it goes.

No change after setting up and a few restarts.

I am using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate German, also tested in Windows 10 x64 Preview with the same result.

Very strange :-)

Hi Markus

Can you try a few combinations for me?

Set LINDA to start with FSX and time how long it takes starts.

Load MCP/Joystick configuration for Default aircraft (ie. C172), change a button assignment and save before restart FSX and LINDA.

Once started you say that LINDA functions well?  Can you PM me copies of the Console output after Restart LUA Engine?  Also a copy of linda2.log.

Hi Andrew,

tried to change the controller type of my Saitek Yoke from other to yoke.

Since this I get a access violation at address 00406A74 in module Linda.exe. Write of address 00000100

when clicking save.

LINDA 2.6.0 9

As I can see at this time, I get the access violation even when I open Setup Joystick.

Same when clicking Joysticks.

Is there anything I can try or test.

Renaming my backup config-hid.lua brings back my joysticks and LINDA works as expected.

Sound when changing shift modes disapeared.

Sound for mode change MCP works.

Access violation comes back, when calling Joysticks page.

Hi Roland

Thank you for the report.

This is an area I have had to do some changes to save the device names and types.  The file is becoming corrupted and once corrupted you will get a continuous error.  The earlier beta could be responsible.

Restore your backup and try the new BACKUP button before you change anything.  Is it only when you change the device Type?  Can you please PM me copies of your backup and post access violation config-hid.lua files in the \linda-cfg\aircrafts\ and \linda-cfg\system\ (4 files in total)?

Also can you go to \linda-cfg\system\ and delete config-lua.lua.  Then start LINDA. This will automatically create a new \system\config-hid.lua file with the default device names and types.

That is strange that the sounds are working with the MCP but not the SHIFT. The same .wav files are used for both.

I think you mean config-hid.lua.

This worked.

I deleted this file and now It works.

How can I PM you a file?

Or should I copy the contend?

Hi Roland

You are correct and thank you for confirming the fix.  Try not to break it again ;) (bitte es nicht wieder kaput machen!)

LOL I'll keep an eye on :-))

Sound works also again, don't no why it doesn't befor.

Ahh, scrollbar on Settings page does not work.

I love this Beta, but I have a problem to remember all the functions I assigned on 2 shifted level :-)

Is it possible to ignore a controller? My CH Rudder Pedal is listed with one button, but still it has none.

;))

Is that the vertical scroll bar on Joystick settings page?

How about a text list of all settings?  Similar to aircraft module functions text file.

Please post a screenshot of Joystick settings showing CH pedals and button. I have the same pedals and have not seen this.

Does you old pedal have any buttons?  Can you give me a screenshot of the Setup Joysticks? I need the VID/PID code to handle this as a special case.

Ahh, no, just 3 axes, but I didn't open it to look inside if there is a hidden one (for whatever reason)

I'm not sure if I understand it well.

Did you mean this one?

Hi Andrew,

congrats, it works like a charme.

May I have a request?

Is it possible to get a "List funktion" for the joystick assignments too?

But stop, "List Functions" lists the functions witch are available for the chosen aircraft, doesn't it?

I think of a list of the assigned buttons.

Hi Roland

I am glad that we fixed the problems you reported.

Yes, the List Functions generates a text file of the Module functions for the current aircraft. I was thinking of a text file of all the HID and MCP assignments for the selected aircraft. This can be printed and used on the desktop when flying.

That would be great.

But for now... , P3D V2 is downloading. Hardly can*t wait to install :-)

New things to explore :-)

Following FSC190's suggestion I have been working on outputting a text file of the assignments for the HID/Joystick devices for the currently selected aircraft.  This is an example of the output of the setup I use for flying the Aerosoft Airbus. You will note that I have many settings defined in FSX Default (marked by asterisks *).  Comments and suggestions welcome.

I will now have a look at the MCP assignment report.

Hi Andrew,

that looks great.

And I'm happy to say, that LINDA works in P3DV2.5 like a charme,

Hey Andrew,

Echoing Roland, I think you hit the mark.

-controller descriptions carried over from earlier version

-controller descriptions carry over between sessions

-no crash on exit

-earlier issue of not connecting to MCP II is gone

-report per aircraft per controller is excellent, particularly for those of us who track these things

All I can think of is to have LINDA actually minimize to tray more than once during a session!! OK...that's probably about as important as the price of dodo eggs. The option to close to the tray would prevent accidentally closing the program. I say option as it would not be of value to all. If it's a pain to implement, perish it.

Finally, and this will strike a nerve; support for WideFS button screen would be Nirvana. Please delete this if it will cause a stir.

Thanks for all you do.

Hi Andrew,

found it on Setup Joystick and it does what it has to do, except it does't for FSX default.

Hi Roland

It should and I have just rechecked that it does. With '* FSX Default' selected as the aircraft it will place the file in \fsx\modules\linda\aircrafts\FSX Default folder.  The same applies to the MCP txt file - the button for which is on the Setup MCP Combo page - if you have one of these panels.
