How to install UT2 into P3D 2.5

Recommended Posts

Im wondering.In all this is anyone having the AI lights issue with all these planes? Ive been flying vatsim and I just got my 970. I am going to experiment with AI traffic UT2 to be exact but with Vatsim and the IVAO MTL models I am not seeing the nav lights on any aircraft after they take off. So what are your experiences with lighting and traffic in P3D?

Regards

I never see any strobe or navigation lights on AI planes, and it is very disappointing. I appreciate that LM probably removed this feature to improve performance, but I want to see AI planes in the sky without having to switch on those "tags" (which are of course, totally unrealistic).

I see the navigation lights, but they are very dim and can only be seen when very close to the AI aircraft.

Everything works fine under 2.5 BUT inside "UT2 > Traffic options > Aircraft repaints" I can't see any aircrafts under "currently assigned FSX aircraft". Any ideas?

All of you that are having UT2 working in P3D, could you please check if the airline and flightplan is showing when labels are enabled? I can't get it to show this particular label in P3D at all. :/

No, they aren't.  The only displays I've ever seen are Aircraft Type and Altitude.

Which traffic database? If it's not one of the default databases you have to assign aircraft yourself.

Are the three boxes above "Add to Assignments" populated with manufacture, type and variations?? Check your paths if not.

Hi Jay

I found the mistake. Have to add the following line in fsx.cfg [MAIN]

  • SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\AI-Airplanes

because there are the other AI-Models...

Thx for the thorough guide. I just cannot get it to work. UT2Services.exe is the problem. It gives me

"This feature requires that {smartassembly} is available on this computer".

Anybody else experience this?

I run Win 8.1.

Ok, this has been a good find for me.  I've spent most of tonight following along and make the adjustments as well.  However, when I start P3D v2.5 up, I get the UT2 music, but then I get Couatl warnings...

I check the Couatl.err file and it shows this:

Any clue, advice on what to do?   I have reinstalled FSDT.... Also, the CFG... [MAIN]...SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft

The SimObjects.cfg shows:
     [Entry.0]
Path=SimObjects\Airplanes
[Entry.1]
Path=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
[Entry.2]
Path=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
[Entry.3]
Path=SimObjects\Boats
[Entry.4]
Path=SimObjects\Animals
[Entry.5]
Path=SimObjects\Misc
[Entry.6]
Path=SimObjects\Submersible
[Entry.7]
Path=SimObjects\Weapons
[Entry.8]
Path=SimObjects\Countermeasures
[Entry.9]
Path=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft

Do they need to match?

Thanks,

Win 7 user.

Couatl is not used by UT2.

Seems like you have something from FS DreamTeam installed and their Addon Manager does not like the new hotfix that just came out for P3Dv2.5. I've read that as of today (4-2-15) patches are available to fix the issue.

>[MAIN]...SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft

Change that line to "SimObjectsPaths.0=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft"  that's a zero

Thanks for the reply.  I found the culprit with the help of Umberto over at FSDT.  Nvidia Shadowplay!

I have the UT2 loaded and it appears in my Add-Ons as an option, but I still don’t see any traffic. I have been following all of this great post I noticed there are 2 or 3 different suggestions on how to make it work.  I have tried all of them w/o success - I have reverted back to the method explained in the very first post - any help would be appreciated.

For now sliders are all at 100 until I get UT2 to work.

I have tried changing the simobjiects path to 0 w/o success.

I have tired the suggestion of changing FSX to  Lockheed Martin\P3D and copy/pasting a FSX.cgf file w/o success

I did notice a few suggestions to disable the traffic.blg in the scenery/world/scenery folder, but my file is trafficAircraft.utb (and I don't know what that is). I have two other files that are .bgl files but they are trafficBoats and trafficCarriers and I doubt they apply.

Here is my P3D exe file:

<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”windows-1252″?>

<SimBase.Document Type=”Launch” version=”1,0″>
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>exe.xml</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Couatl</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>fsdreamteam\couatl\couatl.exe</Path>
<CommandLine>–mode=prepar3dv2</CommandLine>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>as_btstrp_config_manager</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>as_srv\as_btstrp_config_manager.exe</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Name>UT2</Name>
<Path>C:\P3D\Flight One Software\Ultimate Traffic 2\UT2Services.exe</Path>
<NewConsole>True</NewConsole>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

Here is the Simobjects file:
[Entry.0]
Path=SimObjects\Airplanes
[Entry.1]
Path=SimObjects\Rotorcraft
[Entry.2]
Path=SimObjects\GroundVehicles
[Entry.3]
Path=SimObjects\Boats
[Entry.4]
Path=SimObjects\Animals
[Entry.5]
Path=SimObjects\Misc
[Entry.6]
Path=SimObjects\Submersible
[Entry.7]
Path=SimObjects\Weapons
[Entry.8]
Path=SimObjects\Countermeasures
[Entry.9]
Path=SimObjects\UT2Aircraft

Here is the relevant section of the CFG file:

[Main]

User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter, Submersible, ExternalSim
LabelsSupported=Airplane, Helicopter
Location=0,0,1940,1160,\\.\DISPLAY1
Maximized=0
HideMenuNormal=0
HideMenuFullscreen=1
SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\UT2 Aircraft
LocationFullScreen=0,0,961,1200,\\.\DISPLAY1
[PANELS]

The UT2 Settings Config File is this:

[Main]
FSX cfg File Location =C:\Users\Jetline\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.cfg
FSX Location=C:\P3D\
hideDisclaimer=1

Update - I got it to work.  I downloaded the latest version of the Migration Tool (Version 2.5.1.787) and rebuilt my exe file and there you go.  Thanks to everyone on this post - I learned a ton and I know will be better off for it all.  Thank you!

None of this seems to be working for me. Maybe its because I don't have fsx installed. First of all ezdok will not start after I copy to P3D exe file and UT2 doesn't start when I run P3D. When click the icon I get error messages.

Can't help with EZDOK as I don't have it, but following the guide a few pages back in this thread works with or w/o having FSX installed.

Suggestion: try getting one or the other working instead of both at the same time.
